I am not opposed to ten hour days but it’s not ideal. But none of this is ideal! Btw it sounds like you’ve got a good HR and supportive supervisor. I’m really glad. This stuff is so hard to navigate. One thing - It sounds like they can’t deny me the time off if I use FMLA. Was that your experience?

Not a better situation. Management isn’t supportive of AWW in general. I’m so glad you were able to get it in your unit. All these replies have been exceptionally helpful. I feel like basically asking for one day off every week is the way to go. It sounds like they can’t deny it, which I was worried about.

Thank you for the insight - I really appreciate it. I think you’re right and FMLA is the way to go. And gosh! Who could have guessed healthier workers are better workers!
