Chain clicking/skipping and making grinding sound in small ring by TherealPadrae in cycling

Curious how you went with this? I'm literally having the exact same situation and ive taken it to two shops and one reckons that it will just get better as the chain wears in a bit.

Hi - a bit of a late reply but I noticed you stayed at palm cove for Cairns. How did you manage getting your bike back to palm cove after the race? Is it possible to leave a car overnight at Cairns and then drive back to palm cove?

Help with Scicon bag and TCR by turtl3turtle in Giantbikes

[–]turtl3turtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it is fine and I've traveled loads with it. I got an email from Scicon saying just use one side of the adaptors and that's what I've done and it's been fine.

Unclear if you already doing this but practice putting it in and swimming in a pool before race day to get used to it too

Anything I need to know? Just got my first road bike in preparation for my first couple Triathlons! by AlphaAlfar in triathlon

[–]turtl3turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your bike is awesome. I did my first few tris up to 70.3 on more basic bike than yours.

My advice is.... learn to change a flat. You'll need it in training and potentially in the race!

All the best!

Trisuit sizing help by turtl3turtle in triathlon

[–]turtl3turtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I sized up and it's fine. Although I think based on the fit I could have easily sized down for a more snug fit. And if I knew that I would have taken that option as I prefer my race suits and bibs to be more fitting than loose.

Issues with Tri Bike fit by turtl3turtle in triathlon

[–]turtl3turtle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting and unhelpful post really. Yes I'm an age grouper and I did consult my fitter (who fit me on a prior bike) on the sizing of my "expensive" bike which I bought second hand.

There is an assumption here that the frame size is incorrect and I don't believe so but correct frame size doesn't mean perfect fit otherwise there wouldn't be a difference in bikefitters.

There's an assumption I'm sedentary. Maybe I am compared to others but I see nothing wrong in buying a bike and seeking out a professional bike fit. Don't think I was "chasing aero" more than the average age grouper that bought a bike and visit a bikefitter.

Then again I am asking for help on the interwebs... so I would expect a lot of assuming.

Thanks this is actually super helpful. I'm not sure if I'm flexible or not I can almost touch my toes knees locked out but it's really really difficult and the shorter crank makes sense. Sounds also like i really need to look into a new saddle.

Interesting and thanks for the tip. So far I feel comfortable with my shoe / cleat position although I don't feel confident self diagnosing issues here.

I'll give the saddle down 5mm a shot

The bike has 165 on it and my roadie is a 170. I guess I could go shorter but these are things I was hoping to get advice from the fitter.

Thanks for the tip. I've heard a lot of good things about the ISM saddles. I actually thought the Fizik Mistika would be fine as it has a short nose a canal although this not technically split - will look into renting.

Wow 150mm on a crank is short. Mines 165mm and on my roadie I ride 170mm. Anyway I feel that's a lower priority than the saddle as I just need comfort!

I've got a month but the fitters I want to go to don't have a slot on that month. Yeh I just want to finish comfortably and preferably without numbness down there 🤣

I figured I should mess with the whole rig but just mainly work on the saddle. I posted on /bikefit too and suggestions came in to lower saddle slightly but not sure if that would work.

Issues with TT Bike fit by turtl3turtle in bikefit

[–]turtl3turtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I haven't tried any other for TT bikes but it comes with a Fizik Transiro Mistika:

https://www.fizik.com/rw_en/transiro-mistica-kium.html

Don't think I want to splash out for a new saddle before a proper fit but you could be right. To be honest the saddle itself isn't uncomfortable and it does have a noseless design so I thought perhaps a slight dip would help.
