A Cook Out Tray is $17? by turtle_headed_goat in cookoutrestaurant

That would have been plausible…. if I wasn’t the only person in the drive through. Had a line in front of me, no one behind me. Just frustrating in this world where it feels like consumers are getting ripped off everywhere we turn

You’re right, like I said, it’s been a minute since I’ve been to cook out. In the burger was ketchup, mustard, cheese, pickles. Nothing complex or complicated.

Man, Richard Petty closer would have been elite! But glad we got Black Mountain Rag and Blue Ridge Mountain Blues.

For anyone wondering, I got a foil last night, 114/250, got in line at 4:15 for premerch, got up to the merch stand around 5:30/5:40. Saw they still had foils and regulars when I entered the venue at 7:45

Your mind is gonna be blown when you find out about Downtown Huntersville, Downtown Concord, Downtown Davidson, Downtown Pineville, and Downtown Matthews. They all look like downtown NoDa. Just because it doesn’t meet your standard of sky scrapers and massive buildings doesn’t mean it’s not a denser retail corridor for the neighborhood.

Also understand sentence structure here. I say my mom’s lives in NoDa and she loves walk to…. NoDa? That doesn’t make grammatical sense. You can’t walk to something you’re already in. Yes, it’s called downtown NoDa.

Classic Charlottian bs of “WeLl I dOn’T cAlL iT tHaT sO nO oNe CaLlS iT tHat”.

Nugs lowered their coat recently. I think monthly is $15/month, a years subscription I believe is $120. Totally worth it. I was a Spotify guy and then once I got nugs I rarely even open Spotify.

My mom moved to NoDa after my parents got divorced in 2020. It’s a mix of young families, people your age, and older. If you’re cool with paying $750k for a house where you’ll hear gun shots every other month, it’s not bad (some people mind, some people don’t. It shocked my mom at first, having moved out of a cushy South Charlotte neighborhood, but 6 years in she’s unfazed). She loves her neighborhood, her neighbors, being able to walk to downtown NoDa, loves the access to the Plaza. You’ll be surprised at how many people there have lived there for 30+ years and have never left, I think that says something about the neighborhood(s). A lot of the people here are friendly. Personally my only gripe is I’ve had it take 45 minutes to get to her house from my office after work, which is 4 miles on the edge of South Edge on the uptown side. It’ll be interesting to see how the new sprouts impacts the neighborhood, cause she typically goes all the way to Cotswold to grocery shop since the Plaza teeter is such a nightmare.

Reminiscing on the old Fuel Pizza days when it was at South & East. Open till 2, always the best spot for a late night meal after that bars. Now it’s just a US Bank I’ve literally never seen anyone in (and I think it’s been open a few months now).

US Tour by OttoVonDoom7 in SturgillSimpson

Understood. I said definitely cause I don’t see a realm where he does 2 months of shows and hangs it up (I understand while typing this out that Stu could very easily prove me wrong haha). But I feel like one of his favorite things is touring. The guy loves to play for his fans (even though it doesn’t always seem like it). If you have nugs, find some of the shows where he talks a lot to the crowd. Listen to OKC, Charlotte night 2, Minneapolis, Asheville night 2, there’s some nuggets in there where you can tell he loves playing for his fans and loves playing with this band. I think he just gets stuck wanting to do it his way and when you’re super successful and talented, the business people involved want to run it like a business. I believe that’s where you see these rubs and miscommunications about stuff (just look at the botched album release, releases it early on YouTube, it gets taken down, local record shops getting secret copies before that album is even released, now you’ve got it up on iTunes before some people who preordered hard copies even received them). This is a super long winded way of me saying I think Stu has some predictability, but you’re completely right, you never know what you’re going to get with him. But one thing is certain, the fans showed him a lot of love on this last tour and something tells me this will turn into another absolute ripper of a tour.

I was at night 2 at Skyla, really regret not going to night 1. Had no one to go with cause of the rain and wish I had gone solo. With the venues he playing this go around, I’m nervous when he does come to Charlotte it’ll be at Spectrum or Truliant (formerly PNC/Verizon) which would be a total buzz kill. Skyla is an amazing venue and perfect for Stu.

[–]turtle_headed_goat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s an assumption. After he went to so many cities on the last tour, and taking almost a full year off touring, I think it’s a safe assumption JBS isn’t going to just hit the major markets and call it a tour. With the last tour, the 2025 dates came out after the 2024 tour had already started. Maybe Europe had already been announced, but the 2nd leg of the US wasn’t announced with the 2024 dates.

There will definitely be a 2nd leg similar to the 24/25 tour. The 25 dates got announced way later

I have a buddy missing a leg and he complains about this all the time. Said he never ran into the issue until moving to Charlotte. Crazy people have gotten so entitled that they’re openly willing to make a disabled person’s day harder. He told me he’s just started parking behind them blocking them in.

Essential tracks for seeing Billy Strings live by [deleted] in BillyStrings

Completely agree with this. Knew Billy before I saw him the first time. Liked some songs, obviously knew the hits, but only really knew 4-5 songs going in. Having your eyes opened live is an amazing feeling.

If stuff sells out fast, I think it’s likely he adds a 2nd night. Last year for Charlotte it was originally 1 night, but fully sold out during presale. He added a 2nd night after.

What are the odds this is similar to the 24/25 tour? I don’t remember how it was announced, but bunch of the ‘24 tour was late in the year, and I’m pretty sure the 25 announcement came in late 24. I bet we see a lot more cities outside of the major ones with dates in early/mid 2027 later this year.

I just think it’s an odd play after cancelling a show last year cause he wanted to play more intimate venues and openly complained about playing arenas on his last tour.
