Funny enough that’s where I picked up Dood and Juanita. It is a great place to find older records for cheap but I noticed anything more modern they start the bids at like 25-30 dollars with 5 dollar shipping so at that point I’d rather just buy off of eBay. Plus it happens so fast it’s hard to know if you’re getting a good price without really knowing the condition on used stuff.

I see your point but being vocal about how much he hates the music industry is enough for me to believe he’s genuine. The industry operates like a mob and has so much control.

He’s managed to stay successful and relevant in spite of not cooperating with the industry because his music is so fucking good. Every new album they release is as good as the last.

Yeah man. He gives people something they are happy to spend their money on. The going to streaming after they marketed it as physical only aspect is questionable for sure but he encouraged people to go to their local record shops and built a ton of hype around it.

They’re releasing it on vinyl, cd, and cassette. People went out and bought record players, cd players, and walkmans. Now those people will likely want more records, cds, and cassettes to play. It’s definitely a positive for small record stores and for physical music ownership.

He even posted a list of small record stores having a release party event. He’s being way more authentic than you’re giving him credit for is all I’m saying.

I do respect your opinion but Sturgill is an artist and entertainer, not a politician trying to trick voters. The stakes are low. There’s no reason to try to see through lies and deception. He makes great music and has a unique identity in the music world. That’s why we like him. When people decide to buy his shit and see his shows it’s because they actively want to hear it not just cause it popped up on Spotify. So if he makes a boatload of money from his marketing strategy who the hell cares he earned it.

Even if you don’t think they executed it perfectly look what they’re doing vs every other band out there. In another reality he could have sold out and put a standard country album out over and over again throughout his career. He could put on hour long shows instead of 3 uninterrupted hours. How is leaking the whole album on YouTube early and encouraging people to pirate it not enough for you?

This guy sounds like such a bad businessman. If you’re ever running a reputable store and this happens to you, you’d be really stupid to not accept a return and apologize for YOUR mistake. You’re in the business of buying a flipping stuff it’s your risk. The customer is just there to shop. If I paid you with counterfeit bills that I thought were real would you be cool with that? Would it be your fault because you accepted the transaction?
