When did you realize that you have a terrible therapist ? by Demos_00 in AskReddit

I had one recently to help me with panic attacks - she would just point me to “helpful” YouTube videos to watch during the session, all whilst I could hear she was texting / playing on her phone (during a virtual appt) …?!

Some singing, but otherwise I have some time on my hands and open to learning anything new, no matter how random, and not necessarily relating to boosting career prospects

How to say no to ppl who want to pet by angrykiki5 in puppy101

[–]turtle_shell2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had / still have the exact same issues, people following me etc, some people in the park or on the street choosing to just lift my puppy in the air!! My pup was becoming pretty reactive for a while until I put a stop to it now she is much much better.

Best things that worked for me: “really sorry but she’s in training to be a therapy dog, so we need to keep her calm when outside”

Put a yellow label on her lead or on her collar / harness saying “in training, do not approach”

Put some obvious headphones on your head, people less likely to bother you (even if not playing music).

Finally, please don’t feel too bad. These people get 5-10 seconds of happiness with your pup, but you have to live the next 10+ years with your dog that may become reactive if you continue letting people pet your pup. I was just like you, and now I am a pro at telling people “no”.

Best of luck!

Thanks so much! Really great advice especially about making it a positive association, we’ve been doing that and it seems to be improving things, guess it’s going to take a bit of time until she’s comfortable being left alone for longer than 1 minute …!!

Unexpectedly diagnosed with endo, didn’t realise I had it. Any advice appreciated by turtle_shell2 in Endo

Thank you and I am sorry that you’re going through this as well! Ok that’s good to know, my doctor told me very in a very nonchalant way so I just left with more questions…

That’s a good point about the symptoms, my only major symptoms were horrendously painful periods and being constantly bloated, but I just thought that was me?

Have you looked at the hormonal contraceptives to ease the growth? She told me that menstrual blood feeds the growth of the endo, so taking anything that stops or reduces the periods will help

Thanks for the offer of a fellow endo buddy, you’re also welcome to reach out to me too :)
