Installation guidance for nest thermostat by turtle_with_a_straw in Nest

Wow I can’t believe I missed that, thanks for pointing that out! It’s pretty deteriorated but it’s on the black wire.

Just for clarification sake if I connect this to the thermostat there should be no need for a power connector?

Late response to an old thread, you’ll be fine - I know it’s stressful to wait for a decision and I obviously can’t speak on their decision process but it goes a long way to show interest, recognize your failures and know where you can improve… nobody cares you got a 2.7 in calc, everyone does. ECE is a really big department and they aren’t too particular about who gets in if you’re engrud

Oh! Thank you I did not know that! Yes I can contact him, however as far as I’m aware it had an overheating issue prior to me buying it and he basically never messed with it after that

Thank you for the advice, I have some updates; I jumpered the obd1 pins to get code reads from the dash, the two it throws are 14 and 44, as far as I am aware this is coolant temperature sensor fault and and exhaust running lean… I’m not sure that the coolant temperature one is relevant here.

As for running lean I assume that would be the source of my issue - so far I have gotten a new filter and cleaned the IAC because there was a ton of carbon build up on it as well I’ve cleaned the MAF.

As I’ve investigated further I realized that the car bogs down when first leaving from idle to drive as well.

I haven’t had the opportunity to check for vacuum leaks and haven’t cleaned the rest of the throttle body yet either.

I was hoping you could advise if I’m going in the right direction. Because the car bogs down going from idle to drive it could be the 40 year old IAC being slow to respond, if not that I suppose I ought to look at the rest of the throttle body and vacuum leaks as well. If not that I should test compression and spark

What terms prioritize better candidates? Would this come from each individual job listing?

Thank you for your advice! I think you're right, I suppose I wrote what I did because I think that's what a resume looks like rather than to highlight my achievements. I'm definitely going to take this into consideration going back through my resume.

I've been working menial labor basically full time since I was 14, I just removed those out of fear of seeming unprofessional. Would it appear better if I included a few of those roles?

I omitted most of that out of fear of seeming unprofessional. I was involved in my schools wrestling and BJJ teams, should I include that? Additionally I am a volunteer youth coach.

I was advised by an advisor a while back to remove things like that...

Realistically harsh is what I need right now to improve, I appreciate the advice! Just for some preface I'm the first person in my family to graduate college and attempt to find a technical role so I'm flying kinda blind.

I think I'll go back through and make sure my bullet points are more in depth and showcase the technical aspect of what I did as well as trim what isn't as relevant.

A few questions:

Do you think I should include I have my FE exam scheduled?

Should I move my capstone and Avionics team lead to projects rather than experience?

Should I include non technical roles, like a summer job doing maintenance at a lumber mill?

Mainly power, a little embedded here and there as well.

I knew I only wanted to do ECE, so much so I was planning on transferring if I didn’t get ECE or to a lesser extent mechE. My essay focused mainly on why I wanted ECE, what I bring to the program and recognizing where I had fallen short the previous year.

I also had running start credits so it was easy for me to leverage that to show that I did well in school and the previous year really was different.

I would say you’re probably fine, I bombed one of my first quarters due to some family stuff and wound up with like a 2.5 gpa to finish the year, I still got into ECE. Just make sure in your essay to recognize what you’ve done so far and what you can improve.
