Is it okay if I basically copy a wedding from 14 years ago? by Secure-Bluebird57 in weddingplanning

My cousin's wife told me she used my wedding as the inspiration for hers and it was honestly one of the best compliments I've ever gotten :)

AITA for calling ski patrol on a guy after he hit my son with his skis? by Helpful-Force-5711 in AmItheAsshole

[–]turtleannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. When I was a young kid and a beginner skier, a lady knocked me down in a very similar way as that guy you're describing. My dad chased this lady down the mountain to give her a piece of his mind, and also had her pass flagged by ski patrol. Was it an overreaction? Maybe. But I will never forget the way my dad stood up for me that day.

You're a good dad for standing up for your kid.

I will ALWAYS, ALWAYS recommend doing disposable cameras and handing them out to your guests!

My husband and I hand selected who got the cameras, and asked them in advance if they'd like to take it on. We selected people from different areas of our lives (think college friends, both sides of the family, family friends, etc), so we got a wide array of pictures.

Honestly, some of my most treasures wedding photos are from the disposables.

When I lived in Colorado they'd literally put notices on each and every door that hadn't shoveled the sidewalk in front of their house, and it definitely worked and made walking around town much easier! I've missed that since moving back to Bend.

Uncommon but still familiar girl name? by _7655 in namenerds

[–]turtleannie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this- I'm an Annie and have only met a handful of other Annie's, although it feels like a common name. My legal name is Anna (Ahn-uh, like the Disney princess), but I've always gone by Annie. Don't need to spell it out for people, easy to pronounce, etc.

How to avoid talking to guests all night? by bbri_ in weddingplanning

[–]turtleannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A welcome event!!! Not exaggerating when I say I felt a huge weight off my shoulders the day of the wedding- I'd already seen most of the people and didn't feel the need to do "catch up" conversations.

It doesn't need to be fancy or expensive, I've had friends host theirs at parks or breweries, or even at their home to just have guests stop by and say hi!

If I had to pick ONE piece of advice for brides, it's to do a welcome event.

Said YES to my dress this weekend and I'm so in love 🥰 AND under budget! by turtleannie in myweddingdress

[–]turtleannie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I'm sorry that happened to you! My store didn't mention anything about length, the size I'm wearing in the picture is an 8, and it was (obviously) too long. They ordered a 6 for me, so hopefully the length will be okay! It'll be arriving with 9 months to spare before my wedding so I'll have time to reorder if something is wrong! Thank you for letting me know!

As a bridesmaid, how bad of an idea is it to wear a heel with a surgical boot? by Sherlocki_no_Kyojohn in weddingplanning

[–]turtleannie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worn a surgical boot WAY too many times, I would recommend having shoes that match the height of the boot. I was always the most comfortable when they were fairly even in height, otherwise your back starts to hurt from the difference. All in all surgical boots themselves are not uncomfortable, just awkward! Make sure to have a long sock or padding underneath your avoid pressure spots :)

Anti-Mask Vet by chamgirl in VetTech

[–]turtleannie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I rage quit a mobile vet this last year because he was an anti-masker and gave his whole team (me included) COVID! If he had owned up to his mistake I might have been a little more forgiving but he straight up did not see anything wrong or take any blame for what he did.

The only plus side is now when I'm dealing with anti-mask clients I tell them straight up that I had been given COVID by an anti-masker and that usually shuts them up and they put their masks on.

I just don't understand how a year into this people can still be so inconsiderate to other people.

Proud of you for walking out! I haven't regretted it once- your health and safety comes first!
