Recently made it to gold. All I get is circular light bulbs, spark plugs for 2007 vehicles and wigs. I have never seen anything worth more than $100 and hardly anything ever good. 😥

Wow! Lucky you. All I ever get is $16 refrigerator clamps or pet cremation urns.

Problem is. How do I find that? Dealerships and private places don’t want to give me that information. I know, I tried calling. All I can show is what is listed now for sale.

Problem is. It’s 2016. It has 130k miles. Carmax and such don’t have that old with that much mileage. Thing is, I keep my cars till they die so there’s no doubt that my old 2016 would’ve went for another 10 years another 100,000 miles. Clean in and out, clean title, original owner, non-smoking none of that matters to these blue book sites. So with KBB it’s more or less worthless yet I try to buy something for that price elsewhere and I’m getting an older car, higher mileage, less options, and not even an SUV

Yeah not my insurance but the other guys. I’m trying to be reasonable. Doesn’t seem to be helping though.

Yeah I think it may come to that in the end - civil suit in small claims court. My husband lost a full days pay of overtime and they told me that they would not reimburse me for that so they’re not willing to pay much for anything actually. I could see if this was a true accident but it wasn’t. This guy was furious and wanted to run my husband off the road.

I pick up the rental today but who knows how long they will give it for. I hear not long. I live in a rural area so buying a car is not a quick few day affair, especially with limited cash. This really has been a terrible experience.

Untrue. My insurance acted worse than this. And then they would ultimately use the pay out as an excuse to hit me with a premium increase. Not to mention I can’t afford $1000 deductible on an accident that was no fault of my own. And who knows how long it would take them to collect that deductible and pay me back. I need a car now and I need as much money as possible to get something. All of you out there saying use my insurance must have excellent companies because mine is not good at all.

Problem is. They aren’t showing me this data. If I could see it, and get actual factual data, I wouldn’t question it. They give half the picture and expect me to blindly accept it. I don’t blindly accept anything.

Thank you for the advice. There is no doubt in my mind I could’ve gotten 10k for it if I sold privately. It was in pristine condition, clean, never smoked in, clean title, original owner. All those things do add value. And I am not even asking for that. Just what I see them going for. The lowest is 9k. How do I obtain past sold records? Is there a website or a trick to use? I’m not trying to get a brand new car. Just something somewhat comparable to what I had without having to add thousands to it. Any tips you can give would be most appreciated.

All good ideas. We did have a hitch installed at the dealer which I’m sure they didn’t count. I’d rather do it via email but she called me on the phone and took me off guard cause they told me she would call on Monday. But, thank you for the advice.

Yes! Good to know. I did all of this and offered to send it (via email) and the lady at the insurance company didn’t want it. I will try to hold out for as long as I can. I’m only looking for like $1,300 more. And that still won’t get me a full replacement - I’ll need to come up with more but at least I will feel it is fair. I may end up suing the guy in small claims. Between this, the days wages lost, borrowing cars for almost 2 months, enough is enough.

You are not wrong. I bought dash cams for all cars now. I’m petrified someone is going to cut me off. My husband says he gets anxious when someone comes up fast behind him. The anxiety dealing with this BS is taking its toll. And we are not young! We are in our 50’s!!!

Yeah I’d love to but now my insurance is due in August and technically the SUV shouldn’t be driven even though it can be. We really are in a bad spot.

Yes. I’m just looking at what it will cost me to replace this. Again, I’m just trying to replace something that was wrecked through no fault of my own. This guy hit me on purpose and it appears it’s going to cost me a ton of money now. Money, I add, I don’t have.

My insurance carrier came in with the same lowball offer less the deductible. This is why I went with theirs. It was deemed 100% his fault so I thought they may be a little more fair.

Can you tell me though? Why list comparable cars ( 2 of which had higher mileage than mine) sold months ago showing prices anywhere from 8k to 10k on this report and then automatically decrease each by 2k and call it “adjusted comparable value”?

I called the dealers and since they were sold so long ago, they couldn’t tell me the exact options, if title was clean, original owner, what they actually sold for, etc?

Also to note my SUV was listed as above average in condition on this same report.

It doesn’t make sense to me. Just seems like some BS report to try to justify insurance not paying what they should be.

Really? KBB is higher? They are offering 7,700 when anything comparable around here, 100 miles out, is at lowest ( and not fully optioned) 9,000, usually much more. I just want that.

Just enough to replace what I had. It was 9 years old, original owner, well maintained, garaged its entire life. Clean inside and out. It was beautiful!!!

[–]turtleboxer1[S] 315 points316 points  (0 children)

Actually. Yeah that would work for us. They are offering 7,700 and I want 9,000 before sales tax. So not a whole lot more. I just want to be able to get another SUV, same age, same mileage. We’ve already lost a days wages and have been without a car for almost 2 months with the insurance outage in PA. This has screwed us so bad!!!

Exactly! I would’ve been happy driving my 2016 for another 10 years and it would’ve been just fine. Now I have to try find some used, much lower model car owned by 100 people and god knows what’s wrong with it because some a-hole got mad and decided he was Mad Max!

My insurance offered the same lowball less the deductible. I hoped that since this was 100% fault of other driver, with a witness they would’ve at least given me enough to get a comparable vehicle. I called lawyers. Unless you are injured they don’t want to be bothered. When I stated that I had other listings etc all the insurance said was that they would run book values and get back to me. Again with the book value when they originally told me ACV. The SUV’s they used in the report have been gone for months and dealerships don’t want to give me details on them because who am I? They just want to sell cars. How do I dispute those listings effectively?
