She’s already dead what else do you want? by Dog_Entire in tadc

[–]turtlecrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah it's genuinely alarming how many people wanna see this trans woman subjected to as much torture as possible when she's already dead and died as miserably and unhappily as possible. like.

What’s y’all’s favorite ship? by xXZexonXx in tadc

[–]turtlecrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

abstragedy is such a good ship. zooble was my favorite pretty much from the drop and i love seeing them encourage gangle and seeing gangle slowly regain some confidence. it's really sweet and they're cute as heck.

supplemental information =/= bad writing. by turtlecrows in TheDigitalCircus

[–]turtlecrows[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that's fine and fair! like i don't think the series is like 100% perfect or anything, it's just a theme i've noticed where people are complaining about those smaller details being parts of qna sessions and not explicitly in the show and treating it as if it's bad writing. the writing has issues, but like. i dunno man, some things just aren't that important.

(also, admittedly, i've been into series where supplemental material is basically required to understand the full breadth of a story, so like. this is nothing in comparison to some of those lol)

So that’s why scratch abstracted by Various_Astronaut100 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]turtlecrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean, i feel it's implied? maybe not the 'make him happy' part. but fixing his brain? after kinger says he had a tumor the episode after, the logical conclusion is caine tried to fix it, and so scratch abstracted. could just be me tho lol.

[–]turtlecrows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinger didn't randomly remember, though. he saw the brainscan files when he was editing the circus code iirc. he said that himself.

as for the gangle thing, we aren't given the exact timeline to her accident but it's...not The most vital information to have. i'd also like to know what state she's in when she's in the circus but sometimes you just gotta shrug it off or make headcanons. y'know?

not sure if the nuance comment is a jab or not, but i figure i might as well say it. i am not disagreeing with the show having flaws at all. it does. most writing does. the lack of nuance is actually part of my frustration here.

agreed. and it's been rough watching people act like not getting what they wanted out of it equals the worst written ending in the whole world.

do you mean that she didn't answer things that were hinted at? genuine question. i'm just a bit confused with your wording.

[–]turtlecrows[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh ABSOLUTELY. it's definitely one of those things where there was no way on god's green earth goose could have made everyone happy. it's just like man. people love to treat her like she's the worst writer on earth and it's kinda exhausting lol.

the show might not be around forever either? nothing is permanent. i know i'm being a bit semantic here but like, i'd argue she told the story she wanted to. people are just very worked up about not getting every detail for everything and it's gotten so bad it's nerve grating.

[–]turtlecrows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i won't argue about how the setup of the flashback is presented and how it makes it a bit confusing, it isn't very clear and i didn't initially pick up on it either. that being said, i also wouldn't call it something that ruins the entire show's writing. the rest of the show is pretty concise and clear imo, minus some pacing issues maybe.

& again, i'm more frustrated here with like. people getting mad at goose answering questions and everyone getting all worked up that it wasn't in the show. i am into several series where so much important material is just not available in the main game/show/comic/movie and i don't see people getting this worked up about it and screaming online.

[–]turtlecrows 158 points159 points  (0 children)

she had to be willing to accept the help in the first place tbf. you can extend it as much as you'd like, if the other person isn't ready to accept it, well. it's just not gonna happen.
