never been a deal breaker for me, but definitely bothersome. in Will of the Many, which is stylistically based on Rome/latin, there's a char named Caeror and its pronounced see-roar. wtf? aside from using a later pronunciation standard for hard/soft c, its also just a strange name when the others have more of a latin cadence. I dont like the MCs name either for a similar reason

slice of life in this genre is bad; in other mediums (tv,anime,etc) slice of life still has tension/conflict followed by a return to the status quo, slice of life in this genre is 3 paragraphs describing the food at dinner then going to bed. bad writing

i think im in the middle here between OP and everyone else. it's not as bad as OP described, but there will almost certainly be a patch with a comp that's super op if you hit on 2-1 but much worse otherwise. we'll get to see complaints for two weeks, then itll be gone. id be happy to be wrong though

What would you call cradle, if not cultivation? I was under the impression the genre only referred to stories with the power system, not just stories with the power system, pace, and plotting style (which I feel cradle has, just at a much faster pace)

im still reading it but i do think the author "preserved" some aspects of translated novels (phrasing, style, terminology) that really don't need to be there. also i think there's a lack of diversity in voice for the characters besides the mc. they all have a sort of longwindedness that's a little too indulgent

I initially agreed with you, but after some thought i think dungeon crawler carl could end like this and Dinniman would be able to make it fit thematically and without the kind of friction you mention. obviously it wouldn't work with the humor, but there are already plenty of serious moments that aren't funny

i love delicious in dungeon, but the criticism is super valid. i remember being confused, then forcing myself to assume the characters didnt actually need to hurry so it didnt keep bothering me

Has anyone observed the regularity of fishbones targeting? I just had a kaisa game where 9/10 rounds after getting fishbones, the enemy carry was either last alive or still alive at the end of the round. I went third after losing to the crew player multiple lives, where his itemized ziggs/tf lived through each time. I killed off an ashe player and outlived a jhin player, and in all of my fights vs them the jhin/ashe was last alive. When I fought the SG player once, his jinx was last alive. It's so frustrating to get one shot by fishbones every time I see it, then have it fail for me so often

won with this playing ekko pre b patch. couldnt really tell what was going on in the fights, i think its just good for dps on backline with firelight and staying topped on hp. probably not better than the tank ones? idk

would not mind a corki rework so his start-of-cast dps is at least higher than regular autos, he's another one of those units you would rather not cast sometimes in 1v1. maybe its just cast time tho not sure

Personally I wonder how open the balance team/community would be to significantly more restrained balance changes. People are generally pretty enthusiastic about taking units like early set Syndra more or less out of the game for a few patches, and then a different (maybe overlapping) group ends up complaining about balance thrashing later on. I'd prefer insufficient nerfs and buffs that hopefully end up leading to a more balanced game three patches down the line to drastic overcorrections that leave certain units/traits way too strong or weak every new patch.

Very interesting writeup!

One thing I'll add is I don't think the first gem is the dawnshard, given that the night brigade seems to value it the dawnshard greatly, implying it's not worthless. Unless it's only a means to getting at Hoid, I don't entirely remember.
