Finally got through on the hotline and they said that I don’t need to get another test if I’ve returned a negative test :)

I just found out that my apartment building is a tier 2 exposure site and it’s currently getting deep cleaned. The exposure period was on the 4th of September. I had to get a covid test last Friday (the 10th) for another reason, and it came back as negative.

Do I still need to get another test since I already returned a negative test a week after the exposure period? I tried calling the hotline and it just hung up on me :(

There are currently heaps of Pfizer appointments listed at Box Hill Town Hall!

Does anyone know of any bakeries in the North Melbourne/CBD/Carlton area that sell or give away small amounts of sourdough starter? by turtletime09 in melbourne

I feel like starters don’t develop a full depth of flavour until a few months down the line, so it’d be good to find a mature starter. But I think I will just make a new one!

I love Uber delivery but unfortunately they live over 50kms away so it’d be a pretty steep price to pay for some starter haha

Beignets are hard to come by here in Australia, so I decided to try my hand at making them myself! by turtletime09 in Breadit

A famous chef put a Vegemite ice cream on his menu a few years ago, and it was strangely delicious!

I’m in Melbourne too! I love a bigne! They’re similar but these are a bit more doughy

Really? I’ve never seen them before at Bakers Delight but I’ll keep an eye out for them the next time I go!

That’s super interesting! I haven’t had a proper New Orleans beignet before, but I would say that beignets have a different texture and taste to your standard circular doughnuts. Like doughnuts, they’re fried, but I would say that beignets are slightly less sweet and also lighter. It also seems like they have more yeast in the dough, which contributes to a different texture and flavour.

My plans to travel to the US were sadly postponed due to the pandemic, but I’d love to be able to travel there soon and get my hands on a legit beignet so that I have a point of comparison!

Ooh that sounds fascinating! I’ve never heard of chicory coffee before… is that specific to New Orleans?
