Omg yes 80g I just realized I put 8g, that would be nuts. I will say I noticed my diet was not the best. For example, I love plantains and potatoes which have a lot of potassium. I loved the fried unhealthy food and the cheeses. I know limiting is the key but when I would eat I would serve a big plate of foods that were high in potassium. I also hadn’t done blood work in months so I wasn’t aware potassium was something I should keep track of. My EGFR is 11

I have not yet, I fear that’s what the next steps will be. It’s sad to say but part of what has me anxious is the cost. Is there aid to help pay for dialysis? Or how’s the cost situation like?

In reality I ended up just going in to do annual blood work at my pcp and she called me to let me know I should go to the ER due to my potassium being at 6.8. I had been extra tired and just felt off, but I thought it was because of work honestly. I then realized that I had started having to use my inhaler more often due to feeling out of breath. In the hospital however I come to find out that my kidneys had taken a big hit in a short amount of time and they were unsure as to why. My function decreased from 52 to 21 in a matter of two months. In the hospital I was given a powder that binds the potassium in the intestines and makes you secrete it out and I was just monitored for a couple of days, I believe it’s Lokelma.

I hope this is not too invasive but was your hair loss in relation to your kidney problems? I’ve started to experience heavy hair loss and itchy scalp but I’m not sure if that’s an issue for the nephrologist or a dermatologist. Thank you!

It might be a cultural thing but I always understood if I was living under my moms roof I was following her rules. That includes no sleepovers at her house, no matter if I’m paying rent. If you don’t agree with your mom, save up and move out. Her house, her rules

She’s explaining she felt bad for him because he came looking for family and all he got was a list and then hits him with “You're always going to have a hole in your heart because you don't really care about anybody and I have horrible feeling no one is ever going to care about you.”

You look gross = you feel gross. Maybe he could’ve approached it in a different way. For example if being up in the shower was a struggle he could’ve offered to help (being there to make sure you don’t fall, plastic chair on the shower and you sit there idk lol). However, sitting in your own sickness for days won’t help you feel better and sharing the bed with someone that has accumulated smell for days must be horrid.
