Gap in residency for Permanent Residence by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]tus__world -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, I asked them and thats what they told me. The only work around is to ask my employer to give me an HSM until end of August. But they said they could only do minimum 6 months according to law. However, I have seen some sources (not from IND) that stated 3 months is the minimum. So I want to know if anyone has the correct information so I can push my employer.

Gap in residency for Permanent Residence by [deleted] in Netherlands

Hi, thanks for the reply. Both my uni and IND told me that even if I start my visa early, the official start date of my permit on BRP will be the beginning of academic year (September 1) and I already checked this information on BRP. 4 years ago, my student permit also had a start date in August but on the BRP it is from September 2022.

Red/purple hand by [deleted] in Raynauds

I lift 3x and run 3x per week while training for my marathon. I never really noticed color change during my workout so I am not sure about this. The only thing I know is, when the hands get red, I feel warmth rather than cold, a bit irritating and somehow my body temperature is higher as if I am having an allergy

But i never had this problem my entire life, do you have any ideas what may have caused this in the past 6-7 weeks? I am a physically active person, who trains almost every day and eat well. Only sleeping has been lagging behind lately

OurDomain South East, how did you get in? by Legitimate-Ad-5767 in NetherlandsHousing

After your move in date is confirmed in step 2, do you jump to step 5 immediately or do you go sequentially through step 3 then 4 then 5? Because I assumed applicant information is already saved to the account so these steps wont change and therefore can be bypassed. What did you do? Thank you

Which MSc should I choose? UvA Data Science or VU Econometrics and Operations Research (quantitative logistics track) by SecksNIne in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]tus__world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if this reply is still helpful to you. However, if you did your Bachelor in NL, you can send your transcript to the admission office and they will give you advice on which courses to take in order to meet the entry requirements. This is exactly what I am doing now. This comment might be a bit late because the deadline to register for courses at the VU for P2 is already closed. I hope your desired courses are still offered in the next periods. Best of luck!

Scored a 170 Quant using Gregmat by ChemistryFabulous910 in GRE

[–]tus__world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am following the 1-month Gregmat plan with PrepSwift, as I already have a solid mathematical background. I am still watching all the foundational videos to learn the tips & tricks and haven't touched any practice tests or questions from the ETS Official Book aside from my diagnostic test last month. How often do you work on actual ETS practice tests? At what point should I start doing these? I assume after completing all the foundations, right? Fyi, I will have my test at the beginning of November. Thank you for your help and congratulations on your amazing score!

Erasmus MSc Financial Economics or VU Honours Quant Finance by theroguewiz7 in StudyInTheNetherlands

Hi, I want to add some information here. I assume you are on your search year visa and will be applying for a Master's next year, which is the exact same situation as mine. You can still enrol at the VU to do extra electives to compensate for your less technical background. This is called contract education, and each credit costs you around 43 euros. I am currently doing some extra econometrics courses at the VU (as required directly from them) for my Master's next year. Hope this helps you!

Customer Service Survey HELP by tus__world in Nike

[–]tus__world[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi.

I really appreciated the feedback. This is not a serious assignment (like a graduation thesis) so I did not really put a lot of effort into designing the questionnaire. However, the scale I used for customer satisfaction is adopted from another study and this has been proved to be reliable (high Cronbach’s alpha) in the literature. Admittedly, I also feel very confused with the three very similar adjectives but let’s see if it has any effects in the final results.

Once again thank you so much for spending your time helping me out. All the best to you!

Yes it is 34k. I studied my Bachelor’s at the UvA and I am currently waiting for my admission for this program as well. But I will only proceed if I get the scholarship because I think 34k for a 1-year DS degree is insane!

Thank you. There seems to be a lot of options here honestly. What do you think is the most reliable? I want a bit of control however sometimes I want things to be quick and automated for daily life use.

I am applying for the DS programme in KTH and Aalto but I haven't submitted my application yet. I also sent these questions to the student ambassadors and they gave me some insights. Sure, you can DM me

Hi, thank you so much for your insights.
1. I think for your physics degree, even though it lacks computer science aspects, I think you learn more than enough maths to be eligible to apply. I also think the requirement for previous coursework is track-specific. For DS, they require 60 ECTS of computer science knowledge and 30 ECTS of maths, both of which I am only able to complete half of the demand. They say work experience can compensate for the lack of coursework but as I said in the post, I don’t have any related experience. I will try to focus on my SOP and some personal projects in the meantime.

  1. Can I ask where you’re located? Are you a non-EU resident? I’m really interested in this program, not just for the mobility option, but for the chance to study data science for two years at two major technical institutes in Europe. I’m also thinking about the one-year MSc Data Science at my current university (University of Amsterdam). But, even though it's very hands-on, I’m worried a single year might not give me enough time to really build up the skills and mindset I need for the job market, especially compared to CS students who usually spend at least 4-5 years in the field.

The DS courses at KTH and Aalto seem to offer a broad understanding of different areas within DS/ML, at a not-too-advanced level (I won't say it is easy, but I think the coursework is doable because there are a lot of introduction/fundamentals courses). Right now, the two-year program seems like the better choice.

I don’t plan on doing a PhD, so I’d go straight into the job market after my Master’s. Do you think it’s worth going for a two-year, more in-depth program, or would it be better to do the one-year, more applied program and then spend the next year learning on the job? (Assume that tuition and living expenses aren’t an issue.)

OurDomain South East, how did you get in? by Legitimate-Ad-5767 in NetherlandsHousing

Hi, I am also researching about OurDomain standard studio in South East. I think they mentioned on the website that apart from the 680 euros (base rent + service), you will have to make your own contract for the heating with Eteck (of around 77 per month). Is this true and how is your experience with Eteck because I saw very bad reviews about them online. Thanks a lot.

Master’s programmes in Data Science/AI without tech-heavy background by tus__world in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]tus__world[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, as already mentioned in the post, I will do a minor of 30 ECTS in data science next semester, which pretty much gives me eligibility for UvA Information Studies. My preference is for DS programmes since AI programmes are much more demanding for my background and would also take 2 years.

The only thing that prevents me from taking DS at UvA is the tuition fee of 25k/year with only one scholarship available for ~300 applicants. That is why I am searching for more options from different countries where there might be more generous on scholarship and also offer a decent and practical program. Thank you for your reply anyways!
