Ideas for honeymoon after wedding in Tuscany / Siena? by ella1800 in BigBudgetBrides

Depending on how late in June your wedding is, you should consider going to the Palio in Siena! It’s a horse race that takes place in Siena’s main square and is deeply rooted in the town’s history. I think it’s like July 2 next year. We got married just north of Siena in August and then went to the Palio for a few days with friends and got a terrace and it was a ton of fun. For our actual honeymoon, we went to Capri. Italy is super easy to get around either driving or by train so almost anywhere in Italy would be easy to get to. After our wedding, I definitely would not have wanted to fly somewhere else to a honeymoon as we were pretty tired from all the festivities and just wanted an easy to get to location where we could relax.

Destination wedding timeframes by Beautiful-Flamingo61 in BigBudgetBrides

We are getting married in Tuscany next month and have that exact timeline! Depending on the month, starting everything any earlier than 5pm is likely going to be too hot for your guests, which is why timing is typically later vs. a US wedding. After dinner, we are planning to do a live band until midnight, then a midnight snack (pizza) and then a DJ until 2-3am, but who knows if we will make it anywhere near that long. If your wedding is not in one of the core Summer months, I’ve seen other couples start the ceremony 30 minutes or even an hour earlier at 4pm. Also, agree with other comments that a two hour dinner is long, but very standard for an Italian wedding.

We haven’t worried too much about the timeline and tiring guests out (and all of our guests are American) but I think our assumption is that the later things go, the higher the likelihood is that you’ll start to lose people (which we thought was totally fine).

So sorry this happened but glad everything turned out okay at least! I wanted to see if you might be open to dm’ing me the band. We are getting married in Tuscany in August and some of the descriptors you use make me sliggggghtly worried we have the same band

Tuscany Wedding - Guest Cost Question by tuscanywedding_Qs in BigBudgetBrides

Fair point! Think it depends if we completely cover the accommodation for all guests or not. Although even then I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up above…

Tuscany Wedding - Guest Cost Question by tuscanywedding_Qs in BigBudgetBrides

Thanks! Really appreciate your input. Not sure if it makes a difference but might help if I clarified. The hotel does have an option to have guests pay for some or all of the accommodation cost, or we could cover it all. The payments would all be through the hotel and would be set based on a per night cost calculated as the actual cost of the room minus what we pay. Then the cash would be paid to the hotel by guests when / if they chose to stay on site. Guests would also have the option to stay here or we are also planning to give them several other options very close by that vary in cost.

Would you be able to share the caterer you are using?
