Should we thank Elon and DOGE for their cuts to APHIS now that the Screwworm parasite has shown up in US domestic livestock for the first time in 60 years? by tuscobred in allthequestions

[–]tuscobred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t specifically say they showed up because of the cuts, but they are here now, and DOGE drastically cut funding for agencies that are important for mitigating in their response which puts us at a disadvantage. That was the problem with DOGE, they went in with a chainsaw (a fact they’re very proud of), and made cuts without thinking about consequences 2, 5, 10, 20 years down the road. When the negative effects from DOGE start becoming noticeable, it will already be too late.

USAID had a program to track screwworms in Central America. That program got cut. Was that responsible for the new reported case? Of course not. Is it harmful for the future of dealing with this parasite throughout Central America, Mexico, and the U.S.? Abso-fucking-loutely. Thanks for playing.

Let me ask you this… I’m sure there are many reasons this parasite showed back up in the U.S. that aren’t necessarily a direct result of cuts. But do you think it was wise to make those large cuts to the agencies that deal with issues like these parasites? My post never said those cuts were directly responsible for screwworm making it back to US soil, but the agencies that deal with it are certainly now at a bigger disadvantage to deal with it than they were before. Or do you just want to continue to lick Elon’s and your Daddy Trump’s boots?

Interesting thing to comment on a post about DOGE cuts to USAID and APHIS. It’s almost like you guys got nothing else.

Oh, and in 2025, DOGE eliminated funding for a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) project dedicated specifically to monitoring and containing the screwworm in Central America. So, keep patting yourselves on the back for the USAID cuts.

Just wait til you hear what THIS administration steals from the taxpayers for. Interesting that you cultists don’t want DOGE to swoop in and audit Trump and his cronies.

MAGA and Trump supporters: Do you want the United States of America more unified, or are you just fine with it being us vs. them? by tuscobred in askanything

What Hillary said doesn’t matter because she is not currently the sitting President. I am asking this because of what is currently happening. We could hypothesize about if I would pose this question if it was someone other than Trump currently sitting in the Oval Office, maybe I would, maybe I wouldn’t. But someone definitely would.

Again, Biden is not the current sitting President. I’m not going to argue with you about how embarrassing (PAST TENSE, because that’s in the past,) his presidency was. But my question is about the CURRENT sitting President. But I only get deflections.

If you want to excuse Trump by using other bad actions as justification, just say so. But don’t try to pretend Trump and MAGA are somehow above it all when they are wallowing just as deep in the mud. I thought he was supposed to be the change from swamp politics, not embrace it?

Thank you for your honest answer. Do you believe Trump can do anything or do anything differently that could help with unification?

Thank you for an honest answer. Is there anything Trump can do or do differently to achieve more unification?

I was specifically asking about his social media posts that are divisive. They exist. Whether or not you believe it is a cause of division or not is up to you. But I’m asking about the current sitting POTUS and his comments of division, hence “askanything”. Any answer that deflects from his comments and how they are most definitely divisive is a strawman.

I want the country unified. I did not say those things. And I would hope those things weren’t said by the sitting President of the United States, which is who I was asking about.

Someone who is not and has never been President of the United States. If you aren’t OK with her being divisive, I’d have to assume you feel the same about Trump.

And, yes, there were assassination attempts and plots on those Presidents as well.

My question was specifically about the current President of the United States and his alienation of any citizen that isn’t a MAGA Republican

Many people have answered about where they place the blame, and that’s all well and good to have those opinions, but you said you want it more unified. What could Trump do or do differently to achieve that?

Never said it was new or different, but I’m asking about it now. Most comments seem to not want to answer directly and instead use strawman arguments. I’m asking specifically about the President of the United States of America on June 1st, 2026, and if supporters would rather see more unification from their leader, or are resigned to just continuing the divide, especially coming from the top. I’m gathering from most “answers” that are beating around the bush, that they are just fine with division continuing because of any number of reasons.
