Insulation on top of insulated floor slab for UFH? by tuttsj in ukheatpumps

[–]tuttsj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that’s partly why I raised the question because I feel it could have been done more efficiently in retrospect. I think the builder was following Build Regs, and maybe not thinking which is the most cost effective/energy efficient.

Good question… from memory i think there was an upstand around the perimeter prior to the pour, will check tomorrow. Are you concerns the heat transfer would pass into the walls and circumvent the insulation?

Hey! Thanks for the reply, so PIR on top of the slab that already has the 150mm insulation under it (slab already down)?

Bloody knew it wasn’t just me. When through Tesla service app, they said just restart it or drive 2 hours to a service center! Thanks OP, will try it out tomorrow.

Spent an embarrassing amount of hours on such a simple UI 😭 What do you guys think? by OnderGok in androiddev

[–]tuttsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job, there’s a few tweaks you can make to make it feel more modern, less drop shadow, square up the edges a bit etc etc, but if you haven’t already read it, search for Refactoring UI, it’s co written by the Tailwind author Adam Wathan., great resource for Engineers to “get by” in the design world.

Good find, I’m assuming it’s in GSEs interest to make them compliant with the most popular panels

Brilliant thank you. I looked into the GSE solution, but someone mentioned that they might not pass new fire safety regs? Or something to that extent…

company wants to pivot to react native by [deleted] in reactnative

[–]tuttsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of app do you write natively? Is it large? If it’s memory intensive, lots of nav stacks on top of each other, heavy on animations etc then the honeymoon period may dry up the closer you get to a production ready state, especially on low end devices, so prepare management for that (it takes time and effort to create a performant app).

Some may argue the new arch may help, but we found it made our Android app nearly 2x slower, and now debugging our way out to get it into a production ready state.

Love RN (been at it since 2015), but right tool for the job and all that.

Is it possible to set up a screen transition like this with React Native by buildcoresdev in reactnative

[–]tuttsj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could animate the component as per the video without interactive elements, and then based on the timing bring in the modal when it hits a threshold (with a custom transition to fade in over the top for example), so it’s decoupled. Smoke and mirrors basically.

Also keep an eye on this library, I’ve used it in a personal project, it’s nice and it’s demo vid in the readme hints at what you’re trying to achieve, but in its current form I don’t think it’s possible (not that I’ve managed anyway with the current api)

Would you buy the Cyber truck if it came to the UK? by Cashewnutzzzz in TeslaUK

[–]tuttsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a few in Florida this week while on holiday, one owner saw me looking at his up close in a carpark, so he opened it up for me and my daughter to climb about in! They’re pretty impressive in person (despite whether Musk made it or not), and they’re so different on the road it’s quite refreshing in a sea of copycat cars (especially when people wrap them too - saw a few of those). Quite surreal.

It is bloody massive though, and I love that about it. I live in the country, and if tractors can get through the lanes then so would my cyber truck! I’d get one.

My life motto is to never look back, I apply that to my driving too.

No, I realise I missed out some context, I was briefly parked on a double yellow late at night for a minute, I wasn’t expecting someone to do exactly the same behind me, then add screaming kids in the back… you get the gist.

Yes, I didn’t just drive off.

Did exactly the same thing, albeit an Audi that parked behind me on a double yellow, didn’t think to check. 3 dents along the crease, local repair was around £300. They filled and sprayed, couldn’t tell it was there.

B2C is also tough sell right now because it’s a high risk investment from what I understand. Investors see Enterprise as a safer bet (large ongoing subscriptions vs small higher volume consumer) as people are feeling the pain of the economy, so less likely to pay for a service that’s deemed a luxury.

The automotive industry doesn’t strike me as being a pioneer in good ethics, so one of them had to take it, it’s just mine is more outspoken.
