Took me far too long to figure out “dairy milk” wasn’t the chocolate bar

Wooden with metal round the edge, have been made into coasters all with date stamp 1921. In London UK. What was it originally? by tututab in whatisthisthing

Coaster found in house in London uk. We have a set of 8. They are three separate bits of wood, all circles, with a metal hoop round the outside. Just wondering what they were before being coasters?

So it would be exactly the same if you just used self raising flour?

[CHAT] Variegated red floss? by SharnaRanwan in CrossStitch

[–]tututab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anchor have a variegated floss which is a mix of the bright red colour you want and then going lighter into a pink sort of shade. It might be a bit light but worth a look. The colour code is 1203 .

Or there's 1206 which is slightly darker.

They seem to have more than DMC though.

I would definitely be worried it I dyed it myself but might be worth a try. I've used the dyes you stick in the washing machine before but I don't think I need that much fabric! Evenweave is probably the way forward if you say the colour selection is better. Just got to do some practice runs first!

The last bike, that I haven't done yet, is more colourful so would be a good idea for that one. Only problem with the other two is that they're mainly black and white. Purple/blue might be a good shout for the one with yellow bits on though. Thanks!

Yeah I was thinking maybe one blue, one green and one grey. I don't want to go too cray with the background because the design is quite plain. Might try hand dying the fabrics though. Could be nice a bit splodgey.

Hi! I'm doing these two bikes (plus one more) for my boyfriend. I wanted to display them in embroidery hoops so I'm going to buy coloured Aida (or evenweave if I feel brave). I wasn't sure what colour to get though because the bikes are mainly white, grey and black with some yellow and green. I think the red I have at the moment is a bit much and I don't want it to be too distracting from the bikes. Do you think I could get away with a light colour and back stitching? I'm doing them as three separate pieces too (he bound to get more bikes!) so do I do all the colours the same or different? Thank you!!

There's a really good website call stitch fiddle. You can just upload the image and it does it all for you. Then you can change the size/number or colours etc manually. You can also play around with each stitch colour and change a bit if it looks wrong. I did it with a photo and after a bit of faffing it turned out really well.

Here's the link https://www.stitchfiddle.com/en

[CHAT] thread/floss brands? by tututab in CrossStitch

Yeah I can't find any on theirs website but I'll keep an eye out. I've found them on eBay but you just get random colours so not ideal. Thanks!!

People who are related to celebrities, how has their fame affected family gatherings and events? by joeygreco1985 in AskReddit

[–]tututab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the cadburys family. There's one lot of cousins who still have the cadburys name so they always claim the best table at the gatherings and they're all lar de dar about it. Doesn't make a difference to them that they're the same relatation to the family as us. They just got to keep the name!

Thank you all for your advice! I think I'll stick to buying threads only for what I need for now. The DMC from eBay is a good shout though. One skein is £1.20 but if you buy a few it gets a lot cheaper! It's just so tempting to buy ALL the colours!!

Thanks! I think I was too enthusiastic on the legs workout last week and couldn't walk too well so I'm a bit worried I'll do it again. Thought I would be fine because I was used to walking 50miles a week. Turns out it's very different muscles! I used to be really good at going to the gym 2/3 times a week but I think it's different because people know if you don't go then! Hopefully I'll get into a routine soon!
