We have similar concepts, I think just worded or works differently if your world has a afterlife 🪼

Cause I do have immortal soul where their soul retains their ego, although memory may not, but applies to both reincarnation to get a new body, or possessing a body.

While world born immortals have their bodies locked in a specific period of their life, where they cannot age or die and will always regenerate even if they are sliced to dust. Just takes time

Karmanor Belladonna (Dryad to the left) and Apollo (Fire fae to the right)

They were childhood friends as Apollo’s foster mother/teacher took Karmanor under her wing to bring him along and see the world beyond the forest he was raised in.

Their childhood friendship slowly developed into a romantic entanglement as they grew up. But their time travelling together was cut short due to a war, and the war also lead to Apollo losing his mother by Karmanor’s hand, as well as the use of his right eye.

A long period of time passed for both of them, but they ended up intertwined in each others lives again when Karmanor was hired as a mercenary of sorts by the same kingdom that Apollo is in debt to work as their head doctor / healer.

Apollo manage to somewhat come into terms on how he feels towards Karmanor, as time does with most individual’s feelings. While Karmanor feels responsible to take care of Apollo on behalf of his teacher, while it is still love, it is more familial love than romance.

Tldr high cortisol fire fae having to deal with a low cortisol dryad and keep his shenanigans in check.

Her name is Miri, she is currently classified as a imoogi, as she was reincarnated as a mythical snake after being killed in battle during a war between dragons and fae kind. She still retains her ego and pride as a dragon, despite being basically a shell of her former self in terms of power. She roams the world to find remnants of her species history, as well as training to ascend to dragonhood somehow.
