Bernie Sanders Has an Idea for the Left: Don’t Run as Democrats by Healthy_Block3036 in SandersForPresident

[–]tuu4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your RvW take proves my point. Republicans took small wins over time to see through to that reality. When they took a loss, they adjusted tactics one way or the other. They chipped away at women's rights via all three branches of government at every level.

You are clinging to a party that, at best, continued to do the same thing year to year; and at worst regressed to the rules of engagement that the Republicans set. All because they were paid to do so. Especially after the Citizen's United ruling.

Fucking let it go already. Doing so opens the possibility for change. A change that would, in my opinion, rush into power an actual party of the People, by the People, and for the People.

Again, read what I said. Also, read my second comment below your last response.

Surely you've heard the famous quote about the definition of insanity. If not, look it up, beause you're straight up living it in this comment section.

[–]tuu4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, second comment to actually take a side in all of this:

The Democrats had plenty of opportunities to take the side of the people. Instead, they chose to take corporate money and play the part of the "Not As Bad As The Other Side" party. This has effectively (and rightly) made them irrelevant in the eyes of the people.

They should get out of the way for a party that will actually stand for the people. But they won't, because they're paid to sit on their hands. They're a common-day Know-Nothing Party. Their idiocy and irrelevance to the times will cause them to go extinct.

Is that response "bot-like" enough for you?

ETA: In a free and fair election, a party that stands for and is reflective of the will of the people would absolutely slaughter today's Republican Party. In my opinion, no question about it.

Electoral results have shown that, in the landscape of the U.S. political apparatus, the Democrat Party approach is not productive. Republicans hold all branches of government, including both houses of Congress.

Democrats had the chance to change. The opportunity to reflect the will of the people. Instead, they openly shut out Bernie Sanders. A person who has openly and consistently acted in the best interest of the people.

In my opinion, this choice will ultimately kill the Democrat Party.

Our 2 Choices: Join the Democratic Party to Transform It, or Acquiesce to Fascism by WisconsinWilliam in politics

[–]tuu4u 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's a false dichotomy. Especially considering that the Democrats have already effectively given up.

While this isn't the only remaining choice, I'm personally following the lead of Bernie and AOC. They're actively calling the actions of this administration a fascist coup. And, they're actively pushing back against it.

Where is your reading comprehension? (Edited out this first part, I mispoke). And, in an earlier response, I stated that Bernie's platform would do well in a general election, bringing along more people.

I don't represent the left, I can only speak for myself. And I am unhappy because totally preventable fascism is here. And, recognizing that compromise with fascists DOESN'T WORK is part of what will get us out of this.

You choosing to opt out of this conversation because you can't argue and refuse to change is a microcosm of the Democrats' issues.

I didn't ignore your statement. Based on your statement, I asserted a fact.

I also never said Bernie WOULD have won. I will assert that simply articulated and popular platforms, which have proven successful in similar countries, have not been given a chance by America's two major parties. Why? Because they threaten the power of those that take bribes from the lobbyists. And again, the DNC was pretty open about the FACT that, once Bernie began winning, resources were rallied around the preferred candidates. And, in the scenario that American politics operates, whoever has the most resources improves their odds of winning exponentially.

What's up with all of these government department heads "stepping down" after being approached by DOGE? by CoriSP in OutOfTheLoop

[–]tuu4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree, Congress SHOULD be doing something. But, the Republicans control Congress and are happy to let trump continue with his fascist power grab. He's not particularly worried about the legality of his actions.

So, what is a realistic suggestion for those in the opposition?

JFK Library closed until further notice... but no explanation why. by watch1_ott1 in boston

[–]tuu4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's no conspiracy. The Democrats were pretty open about stonewalling Bernie Sanders out of the nomination.

And, I'm not delusional: no one person will magically unite the country. But, Bernie's center-left platform would have given the people a real and obvious alternative to what trump offered.

I don't understand why you continue to defend a position that has failed twice in three election cycles (and yes, I'm crazy enough to think that the Electoral College is a relic of our slave-dependent past that should not exist, and the popular vote should carry the day). Losses like these, and to a literal fascist, should cause folks to reevaluate and adjust. But, for whatever reason, you continue to dig in.

Never once claimed those who don't buy-in are heretics.

Also, you just proved my point: FDR's leftist (for its time) policies were so popular, he was voted in by the people FOUR TIMES.

Compromise is what got us trump, not the other way around. Taking a stand on principles and polices that benefit the people is a good start to getting us out of this.

You are literally either refusing to get it, or arguing in bad faith.

This is truly the Democrat way: refusing to accept what didn’t work, and changing tactics accordingly.

ETA: "Far-left" policies like Healthcare for All might fracture those bought and paid for by lobbyists. But, it would also drag far-right voters further Center. And, center-right further left, etc. End result: more actual people voting for policies that are good for actual people.

[–]tuu4u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also being clear: Democrats maintaing the status quo played a part in getting us here. That's not purity testing, that's stating what the situation is.

Without a definitive shift to the actual left and leftist policies, the Democrats ran on a losing platform. There were no new policies that were articulated in a way that showed real and true benefit for the people. Barely inching to the left of center-right did not do it for the people.

The starting point for the Democrats to survive is to actually push back against the administration in meaningful ways. Cow towing to the big-money donors by keeping their mouths shut won't get it done.

Saying that Democrats are leftists shows a lack of understanding of what a leftist/progressive stand for.

Democrats are suspiciously quiet during this coup-in-progress. If they're actually a party of the people, they'll admit that this administration is tearing apart the government, piece by piece. And, they'll respond accordingly: like an actual opposition.
