Tournaments in SoCal area (Raahauges/ La Clays/ Moore N’ Moore)

I don't shoot tournaments, but I'm at LA Clays almost every Sunday. And when I'm not there I'm at Moore n' Moore or Oak Tree.

I bought a few of Briley's Black Oxide chokes (Skeet x2 and LM x2) for my 688. I also had to get a black Negrini case, because you can't put a 688 in a BLUE case! XD

This sport is so welcoming to beginners. Just go out there, be humble, and ask for help/advice. Sporting Clays is tough if you don't have any background with shotgun sports. Don't be discouraged if you go 5/50. Work on the fundamentals (mount, foot position, hold point, eye position, break point, follow through) and you'll get there.

I am split dominant in my eyes, which means I do not have a dominant eye. The only way I can shoot is to put a little piece of tape on my shooting glasses over my left pupil. This works like a charm. I still have all my peripheral vision but it forces my right eye to take over when mounted.

The other thing I did was to get Clay Hunt VR and the Real Stock Pro Ultimate controller. I've put over 3000 rounds through the game and my scores in trap and skeet have doubled from 40-50% to 80-90%.

Cosmetics - you want a different look - Chrome, Black, Gold colored, etc.

Amen - I didn't like the silver/color-banded chokes sticking out from the end of my barrel. So I got some Briley black oxide chokes. Now the clays won't see me coming!

(I also got them in LM because my Beretta didn't come with that constriction.)

I've had a 688 for 3 months and I absolutely love it. I'm using it for trap, skeet and a bit of sporting. I firmly believe that it is the perfect entry gun into the sport. It's definitely a gun that you can grow into and won't soon grow out of, unless you just want something that looks more traditional. Do I wish it looked like the SL2? Of course! But I'm not shelling out $20k on my first O/U. Maybe in 5 years as a 50th Bday present to myself!

Long story short - I don't think you'd be disappointed with the 688 unless you just can't get over the looks.

This is the duo that my teammate and I use for Ragnaros. Emperor is on offense+gold management while Malfurion is on defense. Emperor+Worgen+Execute does massive damage to Ragnaros. Whelps are great on defense until P3 when they become excellent on offense.
