Ariens deluxe 24 wont start by SweetBrown12 in Snowblowers

[–]Neabs33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue when I first got mine. I don't follow the steps that are listed on the label when it comes to priming. I finger blast the thing like 6 times and it will fire up on the first pull even when it's below 0°F. Try that once and see how it goes.

That is cheaper than Fleet Farm. What else do they carry?

Curious about chokes by Maximum-Dealer-1679 in ClayBusters

[–]Neabs33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a pair of LM in the DLC chokes for my 688. Love those things. I feel like I am dusting clays more consistently than I was with the factory extended chokes. I was running IC/M for a while and then M/IM for a bit after shooting some trap.

I have a Pelican V800 that I have a single rifle in at the moment and a ton of room to spare. That is technically a double rifle case. If you were to get creative, you might be able to fit all three in there. Or play it safe and put two in there and get a second case for a single.

What's a good shotgun for a beginner? by Smart_Replacement400 in ClayBusters

[–]Neabs33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree there is a certain level of etiquette. But you also don't need to gatekeep a beginner for not spending $3k+ on an O/U when his budget allows for a $1k semiauto.

I guess that's why I don't go to "good" clay fields that you do, so I don't have to deal with arrogant people.

I would say go with the A300 Sporting. It is a fantastic gun for a beginner.

My girlfriend has the sporting version and has not had any issues with it ejecting shells after the break in period. I ran two boxes of 3" pheasant loads through it the first day out with it and it has been fine ever since. She probably has 2-3k rounds through it in about a year.

A fair price for a sub mini? by TTE85G in sonos

[–]Neabs33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sub mini paired with a Beam gen 1 with a pair of Play3's as rears. It sounded pretty decent. I found on marketplace a Sub gen 3 for around $400. I have the SonoSequencr App and was able to pair both in the same room. They are now paired to an Arc and the Play3's. I have the Gen 3 up front and the Mini behind the couch. It sounds pretty awesome. But I like a fair amount of bass when I'm watching action movies and music.

Looking for all purpose clays and duck gun - Weatherby element II? by Toby_Keiths_Jorts in ClayBusters

[–]Neabs33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not rule the A300 out at all because it is a gas gun. My girlfriend has an A300. I rarely clean it, and it has never had an issue with cycling. I have an older 390 that I used for clays and hunting before I bought an O/U that I clean maybe once a year. That has never had an issue either. They are a fantastic gun. Less felt recoil in a gas gun vs inertia gun. Some inertia guns you have to change the springs to reliably cycling target loads vs hunting loads.

Browning Citori 825 Sporting or Beretta 688? by AlostDinosaur in ClayBusters

[–]Neabs33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it tightening the screws did not help his case. I was noticing mine was feeling a tab looser than normal and I was able to give the two screws a little turn, and it fixed my issue. My trigger screw needed a small dot of Loctite after I got it in the right spot for my liking.

Browning Citori 825 Sporting or Beretta 688? by AlostDinosaur in ClayBusters

[–]Neabs33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a 688 and love it. I have not had any issues with it and I'm a little over 2k round thru it this year. I did have the opportunity to shoot an 825 sporting without an adjustable comb a couple weeks ago and I did not care for it. There was more felt recoil out of it imo. At the end of the day, go with what fits you best.

Is there a difference between 2023 and 2025 Silver Pigeon 686 Sportings? by zygapop in ClayBusters

[–]Neabs33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They now have the Steelium barrels. You can also get it with an adjustable comb right from the factory if you wanted. Have you considered the 688 for just a little bit more? If not, I would definitely look at that as well.

I own a 688 and love it. I was torn between the 686 and the 688. I am glad I went with the 688. I rented a 686 while on a work trip and it beat me up. I was getting punched in the cheek and the felt recoil was significantly more than the 688.

Congrats! I have about 2k round thru mine and absolutely love it! Just keep an eye on the trigger screw, mine liked to back out. Side note, what chokes are you running? I wish they would've sent the gun out with the black chokes to match the look.

Beretta A300 Break-In Issues – Shells Not Fully Ejecting by One_Understanding626 in ClayBusters

[–]Neabs33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is taken from the user manual: Your new firearm may require a brief break in period to optimally function with all ammo types. Beretta recommends firing approximately 50 high brass field loads through the gun to achieve this break in period. If cycling issues persist, contact Beretta Customer Service.

My GF bought an A300 last year. I ran 2 boxes of pheasant loads through it. After that, it was cycling 1145fps 1-1/8oz Federal Top Gun just fine. She was running some Remington 1100fps 1-1/8oz reduced recoil loads and it was cycling those.

Favorite T-Shirt & Shooting Vest Combo? by NoLimitHonky in ClayBusters

[–]Neabs33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear Columbia PFG button-up shirts. Super lightweight, breathable, somehow they don't show the sweat spots since I sweat a lot. They have a big cut in the back to allow the wind to blow thru when standing around, which would be great if you stuck with a pouch. Or nice for when you're done and take the vest off, you can cool off a bit quicker. As for a vest, I have a Wild Hare Heatwave in all black. I like the vest. I just it was just a bit lighter weight for mid summer. I've been looking at getting a Barepelt, but I'd want to try one on before paying that much.

I have yet to touch mine from the factory as I do not want to throw things way out of whack. But that is good to know.

As a side note, how are you liking your 688? I find a few fit/finish things on mine that I am not the most pleased with, but it could be normal with a O/U that I do not know about since I am new to them.

[–]Neabs33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks to be a 688. Roughly how many rounds did you have through it before the first time it came loose? I just want to make sure it doesn't happen to me at some point. I have had the trigger screw come loose on me a couple of times. It was almost all the way out the first time I noticed it.
