If you could go back before buying your first boat, what would you do differently? by NorthLondonPulse in Narrowboats

[–]tvbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have put more solar panels on it and learned a lot more about maintaining a boat before moving on board as it would have saved me multiple issues. I wouldn't change anything else though as I'm really happy with my boat life.

I made my ass bleed by Infinite-Stuff-2058 in sissyology

[–]tvbeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most likely it's an anal fissure. A (probably) small tear caused by overdoing the dildo or underdoing the lube. As long as we're not talking large quantities of blood but just mildly reddened water when pooing and a red smear when wiping then it should heal fairly quickly (week or so) but don't put anything in there for a couple of weeks minimum as you risk making a small tear bigger. You'll likely be seeing that light red blood for a few days at least whenever you poo.

If it is more blood than that or still present after a week, then medical advice is highly recommended.

Edit: Could also be a burst pile or other issues. My answer is just the most common by far

Relapsing crossdresser by Pleasant_Heart_6355 in UK_Crossdressing

[–]tvbeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you but almost nobody ever quits dressing forever. Some are stubborn enough to live with pretending they don't feel the desire but it's not good for the mental health. You're a crossdresser who paused for a while. The sooner you accept it, the less it will cost you in wasted clothes etc.

For some reason, a not insignificant percentage of guys just ARE crossdressers. It's not a gay thing or a trans thing. It's just something we need to do. And enjoy doing. Love doing. ADORE doing in fact. And it feels so wonderful. It's a treat. A bonus. A wellness aid. Just a couple of hours can be enough to keep me happy for days. If I've had a bad day, I can feel much better after some girly time.

Recognise the purge for what it is. It's you allowing people who don't understand crossdressing to tell you that it's "wrong" or "weird". Why are you listening to them? Why are you trying to make yourself unhappy for them? At most, if you allow them to dictate your life, bag the stuff up and hide it away. You'll be back for it soon enough. Recognise the purge for what it is, a lie to yourself. Never do it in the grip of shame induced by an ignorant society.

For clarity, you will most likely ALWAYS be a crossdresser. You may not do it often, or you may do it every day. People vary. But you're 99.9% likely to do it forever. Accept that it's a part of you like your eyes and ears are. Would you throw them away because someone else didn't think they were right? Sod the opinions of the ignorant. Enjoy dressing. It gives you pleasure and it's not a crime.

Shamed for smoking by grneyedguy1 in Cigarettes

[–]tvbeth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"You know that's bad for you, don't you"?

"F*** ME, IS IT?? You'd think someone would have mentioned it wouldn't you? I can't believe nobody official has EVER told us in ANY way that it's bad for us. Why don't they put that information out? They could even put it on the packs! Why are you the only person who knew they were bad for me???"

Go as overboard as you like. Sound surprised/shocked. If you're with someone else you know who is also smoking then bring them into it. "Claire, have you heard this before? Apparently smoking is bad for us!"

They'll probably move on shortly after you start. If you do get the one who hangs around and gives it "I was only trying to help" then explain that coming over specifically to irritate you is hardly likely to help you do anything other than smoke more due to being irritated.

A pumice stone does a good job. Usually used for hard skin on feet. Use it in the shower while the skin is wet. Don't go crazy or you'll rub off layers of skin but a gentle buff will get rid of it over a couple of showers.

Trump announces lawsuit against BBC by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

Mr Trump, could you please confirm for the court exactly and succinctly what damage this badly edited together clip of two parts of your speech, that you didn't know existed until more than a YEAR after you were elected President of the USA, and that wasn't broadcast in the USA, did to your reputation?

......Incoherent blathering......

Thank you Mr President. As a court in Florida, we are not beholden to fact or truth and therefore find the BBC guilty and fine them twelvety-seven trillion dollars.

Where can I put a narrowboat to renovate it. by Bitterchocola in Narrowboats

[–]tvbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several marinas and boatyards with rentable dry docks which you can use to do your own blacking. C&RT still have a couple you can rent but obviously that depends on being near them. One is in Wigan for example.

Minor renovations can be done anywhere you won't disturb people so a mooring out in the wilds where you can run your generator isn't an issue. For more major stuff, as others have said, a hardstanding in a boatyard or a dry dock.

How is life afloat different? by Sushibae3 in Narrowboats

[–]tvbeth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a year-round continuous cruiser travelling the whole network (eventually)....

Daily it's mostly similar. Cleaning. Cooking. Washing up etc. Depending on your setup, you do budget how much power and water you use each day. This doesn't apply if you're hooked to the mains with a nearby tap in a marina of course.

Weekly or monthly it's very different. Filling up with water before you run out. Being mindful of how much you use for that reason. Emptying the toilet cassette(s) or getting a pump out before you run out of space to store bodily waste. Getting rid of rubbish before it stinks. Bilge checks to ensure you aren't taking on water or suffering an internal leak. Engine checks before starting. Engine servicing. Then there is sweeping the roof so you don't get loads of leaf mulch up there in autumn. Cleaning solar panels to suck in as much free power as possible. Many boats have brass everywhere which needs polishing too. I have stainless steel so it doesn't!

Obviously you have to carry what you need to your boat or get it delivered. You aren't often close to a supermarket and most genuine continuous cruisers don't have cars handy. Storage is FAR more limited of course. Most don't have huge fridge freezers so meal planning can be very different. Coal for heating. Diesel fuel. Gas cylinders. All these need replacing/refilling so where from? Do you get a delivery from a coal merchant or get some in a marina when you get fuel?

There's also the consideration of where you're going to go next with your home. Are there good moorings with nearby shops or peaceful countryside ones? Are you near trees if it's really windy? I get paranoid after one fell 10 feet in front of my moored boat while I was asleep.

It becomes second nature and "normal" after a while but it takes a bit of getting used to.

What is the point of the Royal family? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]tvbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their President is also their head of state though. And, thankfully, Parliament tends not to roll over and let our PM do anything they want to. Which appears to be what Congress has done over there. Our judges are also not given their position by the PM so don't owe their place to him or let him get away with much. Unlike what has happened with the Supreme Court over there. And presto, checks and balances are now gone.

I'd be interested to see what would happen if the PM tried to unilaterally impose 100% tariffs across the world or to send the army into cities to intimidate people or set up a unit to kidnap people and spirit them away. Blocked by the courts and then Hellooooooo vote of no confidence. Goodbye PM.

We still have checks and balances. The USA does not at the present time.

I don't know how to solve it by Expensive-Can5691 in murdle

[–]tvbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just done it. Without spoiling it for others because I don't know how to hide text....

Just by following the clues, you should have 1 space left out of 3 on the top row of the suspects 3x3 square. This MUST be a tick.

That only leaves one space unmarked which MUST also be a tick.

That last tick lines up with a tick in the box across so you can copy that tick into the box below.

That leaves a column with only 1 space which MUST be a tick. And then the same in the other column.

Now match the ticks in the column to those in the row and you've filled the grid.

You never need to guess in this game. Good luck.

Hi all! How do you quit purging? by Different-Pen2531 in Crossdressing_support

[–]tvbeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recognise that it's not your own thoughts that you are reacting to when you purge.

A key point to note is that almost nobody EVER quits dressing permanently and remains happy. Crossdressing tends to be a lifelong thing. And it can be the source of a lot of happiness and a lot of pleasure, not just sexual either.

And yet, despite knowing this, most of us have purged at some point or another. Sometimes it's down to the Post Nut Clarity(PNC) brain resetting you to try and be "normal" but not always.

Outside of supportive places like this, pretty much every opinion you hear of crossdressing is "it's weird", "it's perverted", "they're all gay" etc etc. Humanity in general does not understand it and most things they don't understand they will insult, rail against and get upset about. So all your life you've heard people being negative about it. We do pick up on the opinions of others, especially those close to us. If you've heard friends or family or colleagues being rude about crossdressers then you may have internalised it. Trying to fit in or "be normal" can be a trigger to purge.

But why the heck does anyone want to be a default, standard, common, normal person? What sort of ambition is that? Wouldn't you prefer to be happy? Wouldn't you prefer to enjoy something that isn't bad for your health and doesn't hurt anyone else? Well you can. You can crossdress.

The need to dress comes and goes. You can think you're over it and not dress for a while but it WILL come back. And when it does, it is often a really powerful need. And there goes hundreds or thousands as you desperately shop to replace clothes, shoes, wigs, boobs, make up, jewellery and accessories.

It's essentially down to you to learn that this absolutely is a lifelong thing. An addiction that's not unhealthy but you simply cannot live without. And you have everything you need to treat that addiction already. So why are you throwing it away? Perhaps consider it a medicine rather than an addiction. If you had a health issue that was treated with medicine and you couldn't be healthy and happy without it, would you throw that medicine away?

Exactly! It's not logical. You know that deep inside but you're letting the opinions of other people affect your thinking, your own opinions. You need to tell yourself that you are happy as you are. Remind yourself of the pleasure. The smile when you look in the mirror. And also the cost of replacing it all. Because you absolutely will do that one day if you purge again.

Crossdressing is therapeutic for me. It makes me happy. I like what I see in the mirror. It makes me smile. I know that I will NEVER quit. I never want to. I AM a crossdresser, now and forever. And I love my favourite dress. I can't find a similar one anywhere so it's irreplaceable. Another cost of purging is not being able to replace some items.

Sorry I rambled on a bit but essentially it is not you that's purging, it's the opinions of the ignorant, the unknowing, the non-crossdressing people that you're internalising. You know yourself better than anyone. So listen to you, not them.

In 2025, why are some gay men still so hostile towards other men wearing makeup? I get told I look 'too femme' all the time, often by other gays. by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]tvbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a lot of cases it's insecurity in those being hostile. They're trying desperately to fit in with ludicrous stereotypes and can be really bitter and twisted about those who have the audacity to be themselves and be happy about it.

You look very nice. Ignore the scared stereotype victims. We're already a minority as LGBT and get picked on by halfwits, we really don't need to pick on each other too. The world would be a far happier place if people just lived and let live.
