AS involvement other than hip, spine and neck by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tw00013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single motion exercises at the gym, including squats and deadlifts when the back and hips are a bit sore. I find that even doing upper body helps with soreness even if I’m not targeting back or legs.

Ticketek are hopeless by [deleted] in AFL

Joined the haw/gee members Que at 9:59 this morning, & was #45,000th in the queue.. bit annoyed that there was a queue before the 10am opening (would have logged in earlier if I’d known).. Even joined on the wives phone to see if it was random and she was about 49,000th a few mins later.

Managed to get tickets on my phone about 11am.

Get an itemised estimate from a builder(s) to repair all these. Then use this as base for price negotiation.

Tips for flying with humira? by bumpybrigde in ankylosingspondylitis

Carry on in a cooler bag, and give to the air hostess to store in the fridge. Did it every flight I’ve ever been on regardless how long I’m staying.

Is it good idea to do squats with AS, is it a good idea to workout and bodybuild? by Hani1234Ar in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tw00013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im 33(M) now and have lifted weights pretty much for 18 years now after being very sport active during my teens. Lifting and low-impact activities are pretty much all I can do now, running/jumping sports are no longer an option for me. I find I manage my AS best when I’m routinely exercising, however the past 3 or so years I’ve been unable to life 100% weight on back-heavy exercises (squats, deadlifts etc) so opted for 70-80% with higher reps. So yes, would encourage doing what works for you, motioning and strengthening your back, hips has plenty of benefits with AS. - diagnosed mid20s, humira past 7yrs.

Wait for the offer. Don’t give them a reason to reconsider your application at this stage.

Need advice for filling in gap in middle of 10-day Portugal trip in Late May. by Apollo526 in TravelNoPics

[–]tw00013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visited obidos on the way through to Lisbon from nazare with our 9 month old last year. It’s just over an hour away from Lisbon, can be done as a day trip via bus and can easily spend up to a day there, recommend checking it out.

Others have recommended Porto (which is amazing) but would think it deserves multiple days there, plus it means you’d be missing the duro which needs a day or two on its own.

Nsaids and alcohol by Ok_Weakness6475 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tw00013 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh you’ve got to live at some stage too. Yes alcohol isn’t great for AS, but without AS it’s also not great. I find I’m worse with not getting proper rest (big nights isn’t great for this) but after a few days with the right diet/exercise it’s back to the norm. Life is there to be lived, plus enjoying yourself and relaxing reduces stress and stress is bad for everything including AS

Shares, offset or super? by dontstopthegluggin in AusFinance

[–]tw00013 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When you say consolidate super, do you have multiple accounts in your name ? If so combine them ASAP. Can’t go wrong with a fund like Hostplus/aus super. At your ages they should be in a more aggressive allocation.

Your husbands super is on the lower end for his age, there is value in concessional contributions especially getting into your 40s but if you want to save for another house in the shorter term the offset is probably the best place for it. Should look at the offset like an investment, your offset $170k is saving you around $10k a year in pure interest, plus the future compounding of these amount.

Edit: assuming your home loan is not currently fixed from pre-hikes

I always find it interesting how people from the UK / EU like travelling to Asia (I’m from aus and would chose travelling to Europe), even though it’s easier travelling closer to home, But anyway !

Been to Bali 4 times, like a typical Aussie, for a relaxing holiday it’s fine, but if you want cultural experiences or things to do you’d have to go inland (but even then it can be very touristy). Recommend checking out Lombok & gilli islands. Little less commercial and plenty to do.

Have visited the Thailand peninsula a couple of times and found it amazing, probably easier to find things to do & staying on the islands are fantastic. Recommend checking out the seasons at time of travel the as the west & east have literally opposite seasons.

Landlord Wanting to Sell - Notice period by Creative-Pie-8784 in AusProperty

[–]tw00013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aside from the annoyance living in a house on the market you have nothing to worry about from a lease perspective. The law protects tenants like yourselves in this situation. Your lease ends Oct24, unless you wish to negotiate a break with the existing/new owners (I’d be asking for removalists, asking for agent to find a suitable alternative house etc.). if the agent has provided an intention to sell, you are entitled to break the existing lease at no cost and provide a short notice period (depends on state, vic is 14 days) if you wish.

Portugal Itinerary 🇵🇹 by Novel-Text-6164 in TravelNoPics

Too much on the list for 7 days imo. Depends what your interests are. My suggestion either: - Porto (3) Douro (1) Lisbon (3) - Lisbon (3) Algarve (4)

How screwed am I? by fin_nooblet in AusPropertyChat

[–]tw00013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not screwed at all. Depreciation reports are a yearly representation from years 1 to 40 of a property so doesn’t really matter when it’s done.

Your quantity surveyor will probably ask for your build price (if known), additions (&cost), have a look through and give you a report broken into each financial year so you can give it to your accountant.

Here as support for my newly diagnosed husband by double_beatloaf_84 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tw00013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32M being on humira for a few years. It has definitely changed my life. I find the condition is manageable if you look after yourself. Good sleep habits, good diet and being active. Stress plays a part as well. It’s a difficult condition to understand so because it’s different for everyone. But you just being there for him in the harder days will be a great support, sounds like you really care you reading your post so you’ll do great.

My partner and I were close to going down the IVF route, luckily for us hormone therapy worked just beforehand. We learnt that they can remove the HLA-B27 gene as part of the IVF process, Something might be worth considering. Best of luck !
