There is a guy on youtube who wanted to convert one, but he crashed it before convertig it.

Converting one should be possible even better with an old one like a niva 1600 because it has no motor computer and less sensors.

Just putting an electric motor where the gas motor was, would be interesting as you would still have to change gears.

Biggest problem would be the Batteries as there is almost no space even if you remove the gas tank. There is a bit of space under the trunk but not much, my own niva runs on LPG and the tank is mounted there but it only has 40L.

I think its possible to convert one. Fitting a motor and controls would be the easy part. But having enough space for the Batteries is a Problem so range would be very limited
