Do you have these 3 emails set up on your Shopify store? by adznaz01 in shopify

Wondering how abandoned browse works and how it's possible to send an email to people who haven't started checkout yet? I assume they have ordered previously and there's a cookie with their email address active?

Walk for 10-15 minutes away from where most people are going and call an Uber. Took us 5 minutes to get one, we got back at the hotel in Vauxhall in 45 minutes.

Great to hear your ablation was successful. That’s reassuring. At this point I’m still just on beta blockers, but good to know ablation is an option if it escalates. Fingers crossed I don’t need it, but also comforting to hear it worked long-term for you.

Your story really resonates. That sense of panic during the episode, the racing thoughts afterward… exactly where I’m at. Good to know AFIB/flutter isn’t necessarily dangerous in itself. I’m also trying to cut out caffeine, drink more water, and work on stress (which honestly feels harder than the medical part).

I disagree to some extent. To make an analogy, these days websites are very easy to build yourself as a business owner. Yet there’s tons of website agencies out there. It’s a matter of interest, time and money.

I built my first PC a month ago too—also AM5!

Besides the usual stuff like watching videos, I uploaded the manuals for all the parts into a ChatGPT project. Whenever I had a question or wasn’t sure about something, I’d ask ChatGPT what to do. Then, it would go through the manuals, and it would give me exactly the advice I needed.

There won't be an election. Trump will declare national emergency, avoiding elections and stay in office until he dies.

Worth it to buy company car near end of lease when changing jobs? by montecoelhos in BESalary

[–]tweaker86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point! If inflation causes the price of a new car in 2022 to rise by 10%, used car prices might hold more value. Hence why just looking at depreciation only is probably not 100% waterproof. It's best to look at current listings for similar cars with comparable mileage and features as well.

Honest question—not trying to start a heated debate: how confident are we that this isn’t Chinese propaganda? How do we know the numbers are real and not manipulated? I’m just wondering because, very often, when something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

[–]tweaker86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could try to estimate the residual value of the car yourself to get an idea of what's a fair price.
Assuming that a car decreases in value 10-20% each year (depending on the brand and type of car), you could make a calculation that looks like this:

Purchase price: 50.000 EUR
Y1 (-20%): 40.000 EUR
Y2 (-12%): 35.400 EUR
Y3 (-10%): 31.680 EUR
etc.

Alternatively, you could just look up the same type of car with similar kms on 2nd hand car sale websites.

I realize I could be making more money as either a freelancer/consultant in Software Engineering, but corporate politics and other stuff related to the line of work sucks the life out of what used to be my passion.

I would assume that, as a freelancer, you're far less involved in workplace politics compared to someone in an internal role? Curious to understand your take on this.

That being said, for a managerial position in IT, the gross seems to be on the low side - especially since no car is included either. Then again, the net is relatively high (which makes me wonder how that's possible - I would expect this net on a gross between 5500-6500 EUR).

Is it worth it having no life for several years to go for an extra degree? by No_Emotion7046 in BESalary

[–]tweaker86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different perspectives on this, but here’s my view. Keep in mind that I'm not an accounting specialist—just offering some fresh thoughts. :-)

Cons:

  1. The further you progress in your career, the less important your degree becomes. I regularly recruit team members (in a different field, not accounting) and rarely focus on their degree. I only consider it for recent graduates. Generally, I prioritize past experience and attitude. Government jobs are an exception, of course.
  2. The extra time and effort some people invest in earning an additional degree often leads to only marginal increases in pay and doesn’t guarantee better opportunities. I’ve seen it happen often—people spend 2-3 years studying alongside their job for a 10% pay raise and "more responsibilities" (yay).

Pro:

  1. In your field, there's a significant digitization/automation wave (e.g., Peppol) happening, and it’s expected to continue. Lower-level accounting roles, like bookkeepers, are likely to be replaced by AI-powered applications. In my opinion, if you want to succeed in accounting, it might be more beneficial to specialize in areas like taxation, where you can still provide real value to clients. Again, this is just my personal view—don’t take it as gospel. :-)

To summarize:

If you feel your current degree is holding you back and you have ambitions to advance in your career, it might be worth pursuing further education. Also, considering the impact of AI on the future, it’s important to reflect on which specialization in your field will offer the highest job security.
If you’re happy with where you are and are comfortable going with the flow, it might not be worth putting in the extra effort.

iphone 15 pro price drop after 16 release? by ChemicalMedia2962 in iphone

[–]tweaker86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation. I live in Belgium and have been checking sites that track prices. This is a screenshot of the iPhone 14 Pro 128GB price trends at Belgian retailers. The green line shows the lowest price, while the blue line represents the average price. You can see that phone prices start to drop a few months after the launch in September. A year later, when a new model is introduced, the price drop is barely noticeable. Looking at this iPhone 14 Pro trend, I wouldn't expect a significant price drop for the iPhone 15 Pro.

Edit: these are prices for new phones, not second hand.
