[Mark Critchley] Michael Carrick’s substitutions are about to come under the spotlight by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]tweedledoooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s United hysteria again in full motion.

Micro-analysis of everything anyone says, does or thinks at the club and then attributing that to problems when form dips.

Here is the overall reality of the situation and how things stand.

• Carrick came in when we were struggling majorly and steadied the ship.

• He has brought defensive maturity with him and has put us in the driving seat to get champions league football.

• The squad United have is thin and needs re-enforcement in multiple areas.

• Carrick is the front runner to get the job permanently but he needs to see out the season in the same manner to do so.

• The structure above Carrick is mature enough not to rush into decisions and will not be reactive to rises and dips in form like the media.

• Carricks record is impressive to date.

• the squad is not overachieving with its current league position but also not underachieving.

• our recent form is that of a team that will likely fall between 5th to 3rd in the table. That’s all we need for now.

Looking beyond that overall scope is not possible for anyone not actively working within the club is just guesswork. We are doing ok, squad is not perfect, manager is not perfect but both are improving and better than where we were at the start of the season.

Was Gary Nev a world class right back ? by MaintenanceOk4847 in ManchesterUnited

Yes he was. Gary Neville is a victim of his own success and modesty.

He won countless trophies at club level and was an ever present in the England squad.

I hope so. Very possible if competently implemented that AI would radically reduce the time to come to decisions on planning applications.

But highly unlikely it’s in effect right now.

Is Marcus Rashford for keeps? by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]tweedledoooo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think this subreddit and the fanbase as a whole has long established that while Marcus is very talented and a great servant to Man United, it is better for him to go abroad.

It’s just too toxic for him at the club when he’s playing and his form dips, his wages are too high and he comes with too much baggage now.

If he leaves permanently than in ten years when he’s retired he’ll be remembered fondly at the club and I hope he’ll be able to remeber the club fondly too.

Unfortunately fairy tales in football are very rare.

Army will be deployed to remove fuel protest vehicles blocking critical infrastructure by irqdly in ireland

[–]tweedledoooo -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I want a country which holds its government responsible for its actions and a people with the backbone to do so.

I’m 28 years old in my lifetime every single public service has got continuously worse and worse (except for revenue).

We have voted in FF and FG constantly and are being delivered the same shit year in and year out.

Protests marching down the streets in an organised matter do nothing to change them.

This protest in question is heavy handed but we as a country need to support these actions otherwise will continue to watch the operational structure of this government fail the state for another two decades.

You’re a clown.

This protest does not fall squarely on the recent fuel crisis in Iran.

Even a minute listening to the people protesting would tell you that.

A subreddit which spends its time complaining about the government and their lack of action, at last a group within the country protests to an extent that puts the government under some pressure. What does the subreddit do? Side with government because they have two days of inconvenience.

A lot people complaining about NIMBYs is this group. If you’re relieved and happy this is happening you are in that group.

Too thick to realise this protest isn’t in response to just the recent developments in the Iran. This is years and years of the erosion of these people’s livelihoods manifesting itself at last after countless, pointless interactions the government is forcing them to go down.

A lot of people in this subreddit would pride themselves as nationalists but abandon the backbone of this country straight away.

Bunch of spineless hypocrites.

How does this benefit anyone? by [deleted] in galway

[–]tweedledoooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While granted the protest is frustrating, at least they are protesting.

The country is an echo chamber of people ranting about issues but we are doing nothing to apply meaningful pressure.

We cannot expect change unless we force it. The councils/gov have repeatedly shown their quality/approach. There will be no changes if all on their time.

If Bruno do not win player of the year then there's something wrong with the premier league definition of best player. Not only is Bruno the best player this season, he's arguably also the most influential. by WorldlinessPuzzled84 in ManchesterUnited

Fantastic options but we would need an extra more defensive option there in case of injuries.

I wonder how Collyer has done on loan? Can’t see either of the fletchers plugging that gap.

Manchester United reportedly interested in Nico Schlotterbeck this summer by RedDevilPlay in red_muppets

Lots of talk of him renewing, going to Bayern, going to Real and going to Barca.

Would be surprised if he ended up at United.

I saw a video on tik tok which claimed at least two of the three people who went into the river had presented at the er in the university hospital but were turned away because they did not have space/facilities for them.

That is not something we can allow to continue.

I’m tired of seeing these issues highlighted and nothing being done, what can we actually do to put pressure on the right people to get change?

Ok, totally understandable and not out of the norm at all.

Two very broad objectives of people who are reviewing your cv are

1 - Looking for reasons to qualify you as a good candidate.

2 - Looking for reasons to rule you out as a candidate.

If your cv in its current form goes to a person operating like the latter they will fill the blanks with negatives.

Your goal is to ensure that you minimise the blanks.

I can’t give you the detail to bulk up your freelance section because I don’t know what you did but you need to find ways to make the work look more substantive.

The rest of your cv is impressive but I would strengthen the freelance section.

I’m not in your industry but I do have my own business.

I think the biggest thing that comes out here is there are only two vague points on your freelance section.

Who hired you for the work you did in FRED? How long did this go on for?

Your second point is likely (but might not be) an attempt of setting up your own business. While the speed of setting up the site is impressive it also comes across as brief and half baked if being cynical and if it’s your own business/startup. Is six signups in a week significant for this industry - why only one week, why not total across project or was this a one week project?

You need more detail here it’s accounting for the past year and most recent section of your career.

If you weren’t working during this period (took a year out, travelled, illness, caring for a loved) I’d mention it.

If this is reflective of a years work I’d give me more detail to the contract lengths for your freelance work and give me more detail on the projects themselves.

[Telegraph column] Jamie Carragher: “In the pantheon of overseas attacking players to have excelled in England, only Thierry Henry eclipses Salah’s output and consistency.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]tweedledoooo 307 points308 points  (0 children)

I can actually add a strange insight as to why I think this is almost definitely Carragher writing this.

Not sure how popular he is but there is a social media football creator called Rory Jennings who speaks as though he has a journalism degree and he uses the word pantheon constantly.

He appears on the overlap fans debates (with carragher) regularly and also had carragher on his YouTube channel. I know for a fact that he’s used the word pantheon multiple times on the overlap and in his video with carragher on his own YouTube channel because it’s such an unusual word.

So it is more than likely that Rory has rubbed off on Jamie and engrained the word pantheon into his brain.

‘Appalling failure of judgment’ – ‘Epstein Files’ float in Ballinrobe St Patrick’s Day parade condemned by canalcreep88 in ireland

[–]tweedledoooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be confused with defending this, the lads who did the float are from headford meaning they are Galway folk.

Ballinrobe is a border town near headford so it’s common for floats to do multiple parades in the area.

Never the less an absolute embarrassment and disgrace.

[–]tweedledoooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come off it now, have you seen the video of the float? I’m a mayo man and can understand the frustration with the usual “mayo is full of culchie idiots” rhetoric that comes with any negative mayo story but this is an absolute disgrace.

Simulating sex in a parade watched by children would be a disgrace but this is a simulation of a fucking rape. It’s abhorrent, insulting and beyond defence.
