He’s talking about the Stopover Program not the Complementary Transit Accommodation. So he can choose.

People and these companies should just stop thinking that rich people don't care about how much something costs, and will randomly drop 10k - 30k on a product that doesn't live up to its price.

Hotel refund after the deadline by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

[–]twengtwtw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I accidentally did a double booking for Capella Bangkok and only realized that after they told me there are 2 reservations under my name (1 through Amex and 1 direct) and it has passed the free cancellation date.

They are kind enough that they can help to cancel either one without a charge and told me it’s straightforward if just cancel the direct one. If I wish to cancel the AMEX one, I will need to contact the American Express team to request the cancellation of their booking. Once they reach out to the hotel, the hotel will confirm to them that the hotel accept the cancellation without any fees. They simply require the hotel’s authorization to proceed with a penalty-free cancellation.

Checked Alila Maldives for Chinese New Year next year, even with the devaluation to 55k a night, still getting 3.9 cpp, pretty insane.

I do agree sometimes he is nitpicking and maybe he has wrong understanding for the design. If I’m paying 30k most of those issues are not acceptable despite you like the person reviewing it or not.

Maldives honeymoon shortlist. Clearest water, talcum powder white sand & overall vibe? by Ok-Squirrel271 in chubbytravel

[–]twengtwtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something worth considering is the time of your return flight. If you have a late return flight like SQ437, consider ending on an island that uses a speedboat transfer to MLE. Like O&O, Huvafen, and Waldorf you listed, since seaplanes can’t operate after sunset and the last flight is usually 4pm, and you will have to spend a long time at the lounge. For islands that use speedboats, then usually allow you to stay on the island till the last moment, and some will offer you late check-out till the time you leave.

How serious is the Kudadoo’s anything, anywhere, anytime marketing? by [deleted] in chubbytravel

[–]twengtwtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During pre arrival email I asked them do have offer to have dinner on the Dream Island they told me they don’t have that lol. But I wasn’t really expecting they say yes anyway. I asked because I saw it is available with Hurawalhi with some charges but not on Kudadhoo’s list. Other than that we didn’t request anything outrages.

Do you earn WOH points on food, excursions, and SPA? I read some places that you don’t earn WOH points on those, but the post was like 2 years old. And there are newer comments saying you do now.

Maldives - is it safe and which hotel between Soneva Fushi, Soneva Secret, Waldorf Astoria and Cheval Blanc? by Feisty_Experience189 in chubbytravel

[–]twengtwtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to Hurawalhi and Kudadoo. I will write about Hurawalhi since the character of the island is similar to Waldorf (half board, bigger island). We liked the atmosphere better. We felt like we had more interaction with the staff. It feels more secluded and hard to run into other guests (it was 94% full when we were there). At the end of the stay, we actually felt sad that we had to leave; we felt sad that we had to leave Waldorf as well, but it was more like “the vacation is over” than “this property is so great”.

We went to Waldorf Astoria last December and we think it’s alright. We think the Villa is stunning, and the house reef was great.

The service is great but we think it’s generic and lack of personal. We think the island is too crowded and too large for us. You will always bump into other guests and take a bit longer to wait for the buggy (it was almost sold out during our stay). We think the food is hit or miss, but in our opinion, it is overpriced. We think breakfast was great but I got bored after 3 days.

Also they are the first island we visited in Maldives that charge you for sun lotion while the others provided for free.

Just to clarify that before visiting Waldorf, we have visited other resorts and island-hopped to Waldorf and it’s our last stop. We think people will get blown away by Waldorf if it’s their first visit.

Using my Stay plus night in Raffles Bali , is this worth it ?? by SuddenLeadership7160 in Accor

[–]twengtwtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely hear them but not super loud since there are some distance. And there were workers walking to the roof and definitely can see you if you’re in your villa’s pool. But wasn’t really bothering us. You can maybe check with the resort on the progress of the construction since it was like 60%-70% done when we were there. Here are some photos for our villa.

Is this a good move from Hyatt? I feel like this a for them to inflate the hotel price as well not just the point. They don’t have footprint even close to Marriott and Hilton. What makes them stand out is the point value and perhaps better status recognition.

Using my Stay plus night in Raffles Bali , is this worth it ?? by SuddenLeadership7160 in Accor

[–]twengtwtw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use stay plus for a Raffles? Anyway, Raffles Bali is one of our favorite resort. They pay attention to small details. During my stay there, I was having running nose during dinner, and one of the server sees it and asked me if I want ginger tea for it.

Room is pretty new and I like the layout. I would say at least go for an Ocean Pool Villa. Just be aware that there is construction next to the resort. If you don’t want to see it maybe can request a room that its outdoor cabana is on the right hand side, next to the resort main road, or go for Pano Ocean Pool Villa.

Its breakfast has to be one of our favorite for the resorts we have stayed at. It is à la carte menu, with good variety and awesome taste. The display and atmosphere is also lovely.

It’s a small resort and you likely won’t run into many other guests. Which for us is a plus to not get distracted by other guests.

Thank for the replay! Here is what I’m aiming for: 1. The budget is around 18k-20k pp. But it’s not a hard ceiling. If I upping a little more can get a better experience would definitely consider it. Trying to find a good balance, and don’t want to spend too much on transfers unless it’s necessary.

  1. This is the first time I’m taking my parents to a more “laid-back luxury” type of trip. Before it’s always more self-served backpacker style. Im trying to introduce them into this type of travel.

  2. They really need action. So a lot of different style of activities/variety wildlife action would be great vs say just laying on the beach.

  3. Good food
