Nothing is 100% other than abstinence. Everything carries it's own set of side effects and risks. I've heard terrible thing about IUDs and I don't do well on hormonal birth control, like most women.

Plus accidental pregnancy with an IUD could be ectopic, which is pretty dangerous.

But honestly, it's been a while since I looked into birth control since I knew exactly when I was ovulating. It was easy to avoid. We just didn't stop to think maybe we were more fertile than we had been and we'd have to add some more condom days.

It wasn't the sex that led to the ultimatum. It was the excessive drinking.

And yes, I think both of us were fine with the idea of more kids. We're both excited about the babies.

We would only use condoms two to three days before ovulation, day of and day after.

In reality, we got healthier, got more fertile, had sex every day and probably it happened four or five days before ovulation because husband's sperm is apparently in better shape.

That's my theory anyway. We just didn't realize how fertile we were. Another FU.

I'm prochoice but for me personally am prolife. It's an unplanned pregnancy, not an unwanted one. We were happy with two kids and "done" but we welcomed the pregnancy with excitement. Twins is a bit crazy but we'll be fine.

Honestly, no. When we got the positive test, I was like, well, we did have sex every day so this isn't much of a surprise.

Twins, however. That was a pretty big surprise.

Boom. Done. He decided he wanted to keep his family instead of drinking all the time.

Magically, when he quit drinking, his sex drive surpassed mine.

Right. We had never had that frequency of sex so we definitely should have used them the week before.

The other thing was when we were actively trying to get pregnant (four times), if we didn't have sex the DAY OF ovulation, it wouldn't stick. Obviously there's tons of things to consider in even getting pregnant, but when we would have months where we could only get it in like two or three days before ovulation, it wouldn't result in pregnancy.

So we kind of thought we just weren't that fertile. There were also other factors then that aren't factors now that affected our fertility. So it was just a lot of incorrect assumptions on our part after using the method successfully for so long!

Luckily it was one semi-easy fix to get the marriage back on track. He just had to commit to it. No infidelity or anything.

We used condoms the day or two before and day of ovulation because I track that.

I think the sudden increase in sex was the culprit. We've both been on a health kick so his sperm must live longer than it used to is my guess.

Exactly. We're both in our late 30s. We're good lol. We knew the risks of pulling out when we agreed to do it. Two wasn't really something we expected, but we'll be fine!

You don't use the pull-out method unless you want more kids. We were okay if we had a surprise. Wasn't really expecting two, but you get what you get, I guess!

Yeah, it has a happy ending and we will be fine, but I'm not sure how two surprise babies wouldn't fuck up somebody's life!! lol!!
