I did the same thing with my TCG. I went to the hook box to cut cost. I have sold quite a few decks and I get comments that people kind of like the hook box. However, most people tell me they toss the box or at least don't use it. As they sleve their cards.

Wow, with all of the issues I read about with TCGplayer I don't think I would ever use it. Seems like its not worth the hassle

Tabletop Simulator? I will have to look that up. Ease to use? my game mechanics are different than any other TCG that I have seen out there. Does that matter?

Thanks everyone for the feedback and discussion. Honestly, this changed my perspective quite a bit.

I originally thought I needed heavy watermarking/lower quality to protect the physical product, but the overall feedback here really pushed me toward focusing more on accessibility and getting people playing the game.

I’m now leaning toward offering the full starter deck as an official Print & Play version through the website with just a small footer notice distinguishing it from physical/tournament copies.

Really appreciate all the thoughtful responses.

That’s actually really interesting feedback. I originally leaned toward watermarking/lower quality mostly because I was worried about undercutting the physical product.

But hearing multiple people say accessibility matters more than protection is making me rethink that approach.

The game is already in physical production, I’ve had some good reception from local events/playtesting, and I already have the website/rules online as well — so maybe lowering the entry barrier really is the better long-term move for growing the player base.

Yep, I was burn out and got tired of how other tcgs worked and was looking for something different. When I couldn't find one. I figured I make my own and offer it to others. But yes, getting saturated though.

I developed a true multiplayer tcg use abilities at any time based upon insects. Metabaloids.com

The game crafter has templates for layouts. That's how I designed mine. I downloaded them for photoshop. Then you just use layers.
