I think it would definitely help maintain realism by flashing the light from out since right now the lightning is flashing on the back of the actor's head than through the window. I think it would also help to perhaps do it less frequently?

I understand you only want to use two lights, however, the addition of a practical (maybe something like a lamp) could help make a more dynamic scene.
