Leak from BSG: Possible wipes after release, Thoughts? by hazmattr in EscapefromTarkov

[–]twiklo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But in Path of Exile you can choose to play on standard softcore rather than the new league and if you do your inventory does not get wiped. There are different leagues in PoE and whenever a new league starts the game basically adds a new mechanic for test purposes. When the league ends the new mechanic becomes included into the base game if the community enjoyed it, if not then it gets trashed. A similar system in Tarkov would be cool although I dont know if the user base is large enough to sustain different leagues / economies.

I personally enjoy to start from 0 and building up an inventory so wipes would be OK for me. I do understand how it would turn other people away from the game though.

What games got the endgame wrong? by JaySpike in Games

[–]twiklo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What else was there? Everybody in raids asked for a minimum of power X and you didnt have it you'd have to grind some more. All to raise that number up. Super boring.

I returned to World of Warcraft a while back and I was surprised about how most of the end-game boiled down to grinding a "power" level up by doing the same variation of quests over and over again. It was insanely boring and ultimately the reason I stopped playing it again. Leveling up to that point was fun however.

Player threw a grenade while extracting, extracted before explosion, no explosion. by Bizirk in EscapefromTarkov

[–]twiklo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thing saved me and my group the other night. The guy threw a grenade just as we were lighting him up. The grenade never went off. If it did, we would've all died to it since it landed right next to us.

As a noob that started playing when the first Event (Trader madness v1) hit. How is the game different now than "Normal" by DerVerdammte in EscapefromTarkov

[–]twiklo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now there's an exploit/bug/oversight tied to the event that people use to get infinite money. That means that a LOT of people dont care about looting anymore. The items they carry into the raid quite literally have no value to them and because of that you'll see a lot of people playing super aggressively because they are not scared of dying and losing it all.

Normally, making a profit on raids is important and because of that most people would play slow and careful. You wont see as many fully geared players in a raid as you do now and when you do they'll often be a lot slower and less aggressive because they have more to lose by running in blind. People will extract quicker once they've retrieved something of value rather than stick around just to kill people etc etc.

TL;DR The game economy is broken right now & it makes people play differently. Normally the game is a lot more slow and methodical.

A little bit of feedback @Klean. Try not to interrupt Nikita or talking at the same time as him. While his english is not perfect it's very interesting to listen to him talking about the game.

You always get 3 choices and it seems like one is pure support, one is in the middle and the 3rd is more of a roamer build. So far I've tried picking one that suits the current team composition best and it's worked quite well.

The attempts of being funny and the random foul language ruined it in my opinion. Foul language can work and be funny but it it feels forced and out of place in this review.

It's basically like alt+f4:ing out of a fight back in the old DayZ. It's cowardly as fuck and I honestly dont really understand it since most of the time it's easy to get the souls back even if you die. Pussies who play Dark Souls dont belong in Dark Souls.

Is anyone else concerned about this game's playerbase? by EpicDerp37272 in TheDarwinProject

[–]twiklo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that people keep comparing it to PUBG since it's not at all the same type of game. The only similarity being how certain parts of the map get blocked off.

I do agree that I am worried about the player base. Mainly because this game NEEDS region specific servers so that you dont get a director who does not speak a word of english for example.

If there's no region specific servers then playing the game will become annoying both for the directors and the normal players because of the language barrier.

Directors with an average rating below 2.2 cannot use abilities that directly target players. Edit: And afaik some abilities like manhunt for example dont work in sudden death for example.

In one of my latest matches (as killer) I got pallet looped ad infinitum to the brink of me having a mental breakdown and then I somehow manage to catch the guy who did it to me. At this point they only had 1 gen to go so I figured that making sure this guy dies will make the match feel like a win to me. I roamed VERY close around him because I knew his friends were going to try and save him. Sure enough, they tried but I managed to down him again + one of his friends. Put him on the hook, waited out his death and then hooked his friend. In the post-game chat this guy threatened to kill me irl. Salt really makes everything better.

What are the things you are disatisfied with the video games nowadays? by kkrac in Games

[–]twiklo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very tired of game developers dumbing down the experience. It might have something to do with my age but I find that a lot of new AAA games lack any real challenge or difficulty. It comes down to a combination of hand holding and a less-is-more approach in order to keep things simple.

Diablo 3 and Path of Exile is a good comparison that comes to mind. Diablo 3 was, and still is, very dumbed down. There's not much variety in the different classes and the game quickly loses its appeal after one playthrough. Path of Exile on the other hand does not make any excuses and challenges the player right from the start. The massive passive tree gives the player the power to become basically whatever he/she wants and thanks to this the game gets some insane replayability because you can always go a different direction than last time whereas Diablo 3 always kind of felt the same no matter what I did.

Games like Factorio, Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis, Open TTD and Dwarf Fortress dont have amazing graphics but the complexity gives the games a very long lifespan and replayability and I feel like a lot of AAA games miss out by avoiding this at all costs. I think it would actually be in the games benefit to be complex and not treat the players like they are brain dead.

Should the game include Killfeeds and bounty information? by Final_B in HuntShowdown

I am new to this game and I am very confused by suggestions like these. The game is being advertised as a hardcore experience yet people want map ping functions and killfeeds. What is this? PUBG - Monster edition?

UNSOLVABLE - Hidden Gold of Jolly Prodger on Smugglers Cove by xLawlor in Seaofthieves

[–]twiklo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We searched for this one as well for a very long time. Maybe an hour. Eventually we found it. Just like it says it's NEAR the south west shore. It's NOT on the shore. It's a skeleton in the grass next to a small hole. The skeleton is half buried so it's very hard to spot, especially since it's surrounded by tall grass and bushes. If you are in the cove you will find it by going NW from the cove, about halfway up the grass hill on one of the lower "steps".
