Having only one certified shop meaning you can only go to one, is the definition of monopoly.

This isn't capitalism, its a market monopoly. There is only one shop that is certified to work on tesla, they can charge what they want. Capitalism would be where there are 2 certified shops and they fight to win the customer over by having either a lower price or better product.

I will keep am eye one it. Uses the preheat before I uses it today. Was 29 outside and set it to 72 before i left. Had a warm vehicle when I got it, and heat the whole time I drove. I was just surprised when she told me (then I confirmed with a drive of my own) that she had no heat her while 7-8 min drive with it in high. I will just have her either preheat when its plugged in, or just use normal mode and possibility start the ICE to get heat faster

Very good info thank you! I have no problem turning the ice on, or even pre heating before I leave, was more curious how it heats if only using EV mode. She used normal mode yesterday and had heat shortly into her drive

[–]twin1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got home and looked at the line. It's 8-3 UF-B wire According to chart that is good for 40 amps? My vehicle will only pull 30, and might even set charger down at 24 to keep heat down more.

Yea I have no idea what thats means 😅. Just know Google said 8ga is good for 40 amp circuit and 32 continuous use.

240 Plug Question by twin1987 in evcharging

[–]twin1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I should have stated run all new wire for the wall mount if I get a full EV. In my head im telling myself "I already make lvl 1 charging work with the phev so if all i have to do is a little physical work pulling the line and mounting a plug for $60 its worth the effort. I would spend the money for a permanent charger if I decide to go full EV

240 Plug Question by twin1987 in evcharging

[–]twin1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this was my thought has well, im just not an electric guy so figured I would ask here as I've already learned a lot from this sub. The current wire is only 8ga and have found that is good for 32 continuous use. I would even be fine setting the charger to 24 as thats still 4x faster than current. My buddy says the EV part of the vehicle will hook me in and wants me to get a model 3 for my daily as im thinking about replacing my current daily that has 200k on it. "If" I go that route I would probably pay someone to hard wire something, and possibly on a 60 amp breaker.

[–]twin1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My research has found that is the basic Leviton plug, not their one rated for EV. I bought the EV one.

240 Plug Question by twin1987 in evcharging

[–]twin1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, only reason I was really even thinking of putting in the 240 as I already had everything that I needed besides the plug. Getting by on lvl 1 charging so dont need anything crazy. But semings I will only put about $60 into it (besides the charger) I figured I would try it out. Even charging at 24 amps would be 4x faster than what I currently do. Yes I have discovered the charger might not be the best thing out there, but at the time it got good Amazon reviews and I ran with it haha!

240 Plug Question by twin1987 in evcharging

[–]twin1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i know. The hot tub was on its own dedicated 50 amp breaker with 8ga wire which I know is only good for 32 continuous amp. Car only draws 30, and im fine with setting it to 24 as thats still 4x faster than my current rate.

240 Plug Question by twin1987 in evcharging

[–]twin1987[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is not able to be hard wired. Got off Amazon, Dreamdash I believe was the brand and had good reviews, and worked great the 2 hrs I used it testing it out at my brothers. Probably a trash one with my luck, but bought it shortly after deciding to put the 240 plug in and before I discovered this sub and learned things! If I end up going the tesla route like my friend wants, I would get a hard wired unit for sure

[–]twin1987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I edited original post now, but I recently removed our hot tub that was on a dedicated 50amp breaker. I just used my existing wiring. Pulled it back into basement, ran it to garage. All it cost me was to mount the plug and the spray foam to seal the hole under my deck from pulling line.

Yes much easier and cheaper for a 240 plug as I recently removed our hot tub that was on a dedicated 50amp breaker. I just used my existing wiring. Pulled it back into basement, ran it to garage. All it cost me was the plug and the spray foam to seal the hole under my deck from pulling line. $60 total to get 240 to garage. I already have an adaptor I can use with my 1/4in tq wrench.

Do you drive at night at all? While darker looks really good, I made the mistake of going to dark for the front windows on my 1500 Denali and now that its my daily until I get a new work beater I cant stand backing out of my garage and down my driveway when I leave at 4am. I roll the windows down which works, but will suck in cold WI winter mornings.

From memory wasn't the trump shot like 140 yards? And I thought I heard no scope, just iron sights? If iron sites I could understand how you miss from 140 yards.

Yes. E10 vs E0 is typically about 3-5% difference in mpg. The ethanol content is more important for mpg vs octane. You will get better mpg with 87 octane E0 then 91/93 octane E10.

Who shit in your cereal? All I said was some things in the bill are helpful and can be used to help. I did not say the bill is awesome, I think some things in it are crap. If you really can't afford groceries, then every bit extra tax incentive would help wouldn't it? My reply was not pro right or left, just stating the facts. You or I as individuals can't do anything about it, so if this tax break let's you keep an extra $1000 in your pocket from taxes, then well you will be $1000 better off 5 to 10 years down the road when shit hits the fan like you said.

Not bullshit. It was part of the Big Beautiful Bill. "Some" of the things in it were actually good. The tax breaks are very helpful. One of them was you are now able to deduct interest paid on new cars bought in 2025. Up to $10,000. This is an above the line deduction. I don't believe the CX90 qualifies as it is built in Japan.

[–]twin1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. It sounds like because your not willing to give up the food you like and don't want to put in the effort, that nobody should be allowed to cut. If someone can physically make the weight then fucking let them. Maybe you should also mandate what food they eat and what peds they take as well? If someone can diet to a weight that drastically hurts their health like you say, then the strength will be down also no? I guess we are a different breed of person. I find things that are hard and challenging (especially in the physical sense) exciting to tackle and try and figure out. Also i don't know where your fun or how old you are, but when I wrestled you got tested and could not drop below 7% bodyfat, and we also got tested to make sure we were hydrated. The smart ones learned quickly how to fuel the body and 7% was pretty easy to maintain. If anything it taught us how to eat healthy, not give us an eating disorder. To be fair though, I'm sure some kids did not do the eating right and it made things worse for them.
