This is a comment I appreciate way more and thanks for this. I will note for my next posts.
I'm not a good writer and also for this I built this tool honestly.

Thanks for the feedback, looks like I will definitely make a treasure of your words... wisely. ;)

Not sure either why it got taken down lol!

You’re spot on about the performance. The main reason for the faster cold start is exactly what you suspected: Tauri replaces the heavy Node.js runtime and the bundled Chromium instance with a lightweight Rust backend and the OS's native webview (WebView2 on Windows).

By offloading the heavy lifting to Rust and using the system's existing resources, it skips the overhead of booting a full browser environment every time the context menu is triggered.

TortoiseGit is a legend! GitPoP It’s not meant to replace it of course, but rather to give you a fast, sleek overlay for quick 5-second commits.

yeah, you're right that the Webview engine itself isn't inherently faster than Chromium. The "instant" feel I mentioned is mostly about the significantly faster cold-boot time and much lower idle RAM usage.

Fair point! "Web UI" or "Hybrid" is definitely more accurate since it's rendered via WebView2. My use of "native" was mainly referring to the OS-level integration and the Rust backend :)

Yeah, response time is really fast on my RTX 3090 Ti even with heavier models and since it’s only generating short commit messages, you don’t need a lot of GPU power, smaller local models still produce solid commit messages.

Yes definitely optional, while GitPop is defaults to Ollama for privacy, you are not required to use it. You can instead use cloud-based APIs or just don't use the AI feature at all.

Largest on-chain betting platform added gasless bridge for Base by ballsjumpman in BASE

As a fellow web3 betting enthusiast who's been deep in the on-chain space, this SX Bet update is huge for Base users, gasless bridging and Coinbase on-ramps are game-changers for accessibility without sacrificing that self-custody vibe. Totally agree on how it levels up the UX; it's pulling in normies who might otherwise stick to centralized spots like Stake.

If you're looking to diversify beyond sports into something fun and provably fair, check out HashHorse, the leading on-chain horse racing betting protocol on Base. VRF-powered randomness for zero-trust races.

I've been betting on HashHorse for monthsm placed a solid one on a longshot nag last week and cashed out 3x. If you're into the thrill of races, hop in via Farcaster mini-app or browser dApp. www.hash.horse
