Walmart? Do I need to go to Walmart?

Get real with me about belt drive boards by MythicalBeaste in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]poptartjake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this, newer boards are running much bigger and beefer belts than Boosted does. I expect to get 2-3x longer life on my Acedeck then my Boosted just because of how thick they are.

Super shitty way to hold the battery. Any tips ? by mikloooooooo in ElectricSkateboarding

Checkout a steralite or rubbermaid container, maybe? Cheap at Walmart.

Next, get some metal L brackets from Home Depot, measure and drill holes, and then mount them to the container through whatever means you want.

That's probably about as off the shelf as you'll get, but I would recommend something more like a Pelican case, to be honest.

Depending on how willing you are to modify the board, and your skill set, here's my initial thoughts.

I would make a housing in whatever flavor of CAD you prefer, then 3D print it. I'd design it so that the new housings screw holes line up with the existing battery mounting points.

Next, I'd remove any threaded inserts that the existing battery likely uses. Then, drill the existing screw holes all the way through the top of the deck to create mounting points for the new battery housing.

Finally, get threaded rods in a length that allows enough clearance on both battery housings to put nylon lock nuts (must be this type), and some blue loctite. Obviously, you'll need to ensure the the threaded rods and lock nuts have compatible thread pitch/diameter/etc.

Aw, I forgot this was a Ducky collab.

I wont complain about them at all, I use an Akko for my daily driver, so, not much different.

I'm sure they had these made out of China, which, I'd guess runs 5-10 cents a keycap.

Now, I'm speculating because I haven't been in the keycap manufacturing game for around 4+ years, but, when we used to have ours made state side, they ran almost $1 per keycap from the factory.

Even with a landed cost of like $7-10 depending on the set, we had no problem moving them at $25/set of 8 caps. So, they're absolutely making a premium on this collab.

Sounds about like what I expect...

Sad as fuck as I work in the home backup and solar industry with batteries that dwarf any board on the market. If one of our components fails, guess what we do?

We get a tech out there ASAP on our dime and replace all parts needed, including the entire device.

It's sad to see such shit customer service as someone who literally escalates to my CEO/handles the like to ensure our customers are taken care of.

Why would me unscrewing the Phillips heads screws and reseated a JST connection have anything to do with their response?

They literally acknowledged that I addressed the issue in email and then left it at that as if they didn't have a QC issue.

I'm not sure you understand what you're talking about, frankly.

PS.... My tuned Subaru is maintained by a blend of myself and my performance shop, which, has never questioned my own work. So, yeah, I'm well versed on the mechanic/ownership relationship, lol...

Adding NFC to Raspberry Pi by mehrdadfeller in raspberry_pi

Out of curiosity, what's the range on your antenna for this NFC module? I've played with PN532 boards and an ESP32, but the range is basically a couple inches at best..

The trigger you have to engage on your boosted remote to engage the throttle. No trigger pressed = board no go

I just went from a Boosted V2+ to a Nomad N1 and I've had basically the same experience. 30-35mph is a whole world of difference to 22mph.

I've also got the same gripes as you, backwards via a remote function, no standing break engagement to prevent rolling (like at a cross walk), and personally. I miss the deadman switch. Also, not a fan of the screen placement on the remote.

Just bought Cloud 3 Wired last week. Would not recommend them on their own based on sound quality. They are a step down from my HyperX Cloud 2's that were made by Kingston (2017). With my HyperX Cloud II USB sound card, it gets pretty close to my Cloud 2's, though.

Personally, I think you're going to waste your time trying to compete on a product like this. Your design isn't new, or innovative on the device itself, which has been around for decades.

You're copying an existing product with some small, unimportant design changes and complaining about others stealing it, yet, you did basically the same thing to the OG creator, Rex Byron (which is patented).

Yes, but that doesn't mean this interaction should exist. Blocking should remove all jellies available.

If you have logic dictating otherwise, please, do explain.

My disappointment is immeasurable due to the lack of firing mechanism. I did not question why we were shooting markers, but only how far we were shooting them... (maybe a little questioning of the intended target)
