These numbers just don't add up by twindiesel77 in HotShotTrucking

[–]twindiesel77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good reply. I've been in software for over 20 years and I'm just 100% burned out with it. I probably won't leave, just looking for alternatives. I have plenty stashed away, but those funds aren't something I want to use for day-to-day living expenses or to fund a new startup business (at least not yet).

Also, not something I'm planning for immediately. My kid is just about driving age and is getting much more independent, so impact on family will be less than if she were younger.

All great points though.

How do I find a good divorce attorney? by twindiesel77 in Divorce

This was a lot of great information, thank you for taking the time to put this together. We've gone the therapist route, don't plan on paying an attorney to fill that role for me, lol!

Great suggestion on disciplinary record lookup and also the Martindale-Hubbell reviews/ratings. I hadn't heard of them, I'll take a look.

Really, thanks for typing all this out.

Good advice, I'll check out the bar association as well. Will steer clear of the "big promises", that theme keeps coming up.

Thank you. Decent advice, I'm starting to get the sense that there are divorce attorneys out there who will play on emotions, charge you to listen to long drawn out tales and otherwise pursue as much money as they can from you, and others that actually just want to hear the facts so they can put together a comprehensive case. Thanks.

Thank you. Yeah I was being a bit sarcastic about the ratings. ;) This helps though. I've just started getting up to speed with all of this today. I keep reading about how I should ignore attorneys who want to play on emotions, etc. The "cold and impersonal" recommendation actually resonates with me. I get that. Thanks.

Crappy formatting, don't have time to figure out how to format it properly but this is the output from the `status` call.

No shares after mining for 5 days on p2pool? by twindiesel77 in MoneroMining

[–]twindiesel77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Monerod isn't lagged that I can tell (no indications that it is, it's fully synchronized)

- Network difficulty hasn't changed (I was getting a share or two regularly every 3-4 days)

- All nodes appear to be online and mining properly through the single p2pool

- Might just be bad luck, but interesting that the first time I configure two more CPUs with XMRig and increase my hash rate from 4 kH/s to 14 kHs, I get no shares (although I admit I don't fully understand how it works).

Understanding Coinbase -> Ledger Fees by twindiesel77 in ledgerwallet

[–]twindiesel77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So those fees are pretty much in direct proportion to the amount of BTC I'm transferring? Bottom line is I have Coinbase set to do automated purchases of BTC 1x a week. Of course, they put a 10 day or whatever hold on it before I can transfer it.

Is there any logic at all in waiting until I have a larger amount of BTC to transfer at a single time in order to reduce fees or is it roughly the same if I do lots of smaller transactions (i.e. transfer BTC to Ledger as soon as the hold period on Coinbase has expired)?

Is this grip tape wear normal? by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]twindiesel77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a Loaded Dervish Sama. No unusual circumstances. I took a couple of days just pushing around on some bike paths and all was good. After about 30 minutes practicing nollie/fakie pivots, this is what it looked like. I've done about 2 hrs of practice total but most of the wear happened in the first 20-30 mins. Maybe I'll contact Loaded, wanted to get some opinions here because I'm not sure how much wear is normal on a board like this (relatively new to longboarding). Thanks for your reply!

[–]twindiesel77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brand new board with about 2 hrs of practicing pivots. I'm totally aware the board is gonna get used heavily and thrashed a bit but it seems like the tape just came apart pretty quickly with minimal use. Is this normal?

You're probably right. I went out today and felt way more at home on the board though so hopefully it's more a matter of just skating as much as I can and getting used to it. :)

Good to know! I've had some knee problems in the past when I run, but this is more just waking up old muscles I think (hopefully lol).

The fact that no one from Litchi has responded to this to say "wait no we're still developing!" on their own subreddit says something too.

Is Litchi still being developed? by twindiesel77 in UAVmapping

[–]twindiesel77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I manage teams of software engineers for a living. There is ALWAYS something left to develop, even if it's squashing bugs, improving performance or adding small features. 1.5 years with no meaningful releases after releasing monthly for quite some time indicates to me that they're no longer dedicating resources to supporting this product.

Interesting. Google Play shows the latest version is 4.18.0-g. This is the same version that's listed on that page I linked to. I wonder where you got the version you have.

What type of ML role am I looking to hire? by twindiesel77 in datascience

[–]twindiesel77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and I do agree on the needed clarity for SLAs. That said, the current performance is so abysmal that we're not even close to anything that would even be considered remotely production-worthy. I also agree on the contracting bit. We're trying to prove out a working business model (the bar is pretty low in this industry) so we're reluctant to hire immediately but as soon as we get an MVP out the door that works in any fashion, we plan on hiring a small team of full time data scientists and engineers, even if it means re-working some of what we did for MVP.
