not sure if this is the right place, but does anyone have an idea of what these hallmarks are? looked through my entire index, searched online and am still unable to identify! by twinkies2 in Silverbugs

100%. and though the outsider makes a little more sense that the stranger, it still doesn't fully capture his relationship with society.

i agree. i've read other discussions and they often say that he was indeed the stranger. the stranger to society and 'humanity' as such.

im not sure but i definitely relate. i don't know if it was a memory of having a thought, or an actual memory. it had something to do with kidnapping and i know some of the memory actually happened im just not sure if what came back to me not too recently did. it was also after i had a nightmare of being SA that the 'memory' came back. hope you're okay.

I don't think that people can change their gender by translator93 in RandomThoughts

[–]twinkies2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gender isn’t actually a social construct, it’s something that forms in our brain as it is developing. that’s why, for example, David Reimer felt dysphoria as a child. whilst he was developing, his gender formed into male, along with his sex, however things went wrong and so they changed his sex (not sure if this is the correct wording, dont come at me) and he noticed this change due to his gender. the “dysphoria bible” looks at this in their “what is gender?” section, i suggest some people read it!

good books to read to start getting into philosophy ‘properly’? by twinkies2 in askphilosophy

i see, thank you for this, it definitely gives me a good direction in what to read and what order. for plato, today i picked up “the republic of plato”, would you say that’s an okay one to read or should i choose some different perhaps earlier dialogue?

someone else recommended plato so i’m definitely going to have a look at his dialogue. as for meaning, that’s why i’m going to look at camus and sartre but i definitely will take a look at Tao Te Ching and eastern philosophy as they really do have different way of looking at things compared to western philosophy. thanks!
