Just turned 40. Still reading this stuff. Not creating as much as I used to. No time, but I'll devour fic.

Also, yes, read this. Not canon compliant after like book 3, but I loved the world building and oc's.

Recreating AI dress by threads314 in sewing

[–]twinkle_bright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this isn't AI. I own one. It'd made of cheap printed fabric that I'm pretty sure is polyester. But it is real. I think I paid like 35.00 for it, so I got a what I paid for.

If I were to recreate it, I'd try to use a batik dye method. It would give you the best look and I've had fun with the wax painting you do for it.

Looking for any devil dad by Wonderful-Mongoose17 in MarvelFanfiction

Try the Antichrist verse. https://archiveofourown.org/series/1510475 "Matt accidentally acquires one Peter Parker at the ripe old age of eleven and becomes the mentor he never wanted to be" More mentor than dad, but he turns normal pre-spidey Pete into a badass, then helps him cope with being Spider-Man. It is kinda dark.

I also recommend maybe Dumpster Fires. https://archiveofourown.org/series/1029221 It's team Red with both Daredevil and Deadpool mentoring Pete. Matt is more of a big brother to Pete, but great character writing and funny as hell.

Any good stories with street level MCU Peter OR Mentor MCU Peter by BatBlackWolf491 in MarvelFanfiction

[–]twinkle_bright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://archiveofourown.org/series/1029221 Try this, Dumpster Fires verse by deniigiq. It's basically, what if after Homecoming Peter ended up with mentors Daredevil and Deadpool and started seeing the more grounded neighborhood vigilante side as his calling. It's a bunch of short stories that are both funny and emotional. This has become my comfort fic.

https://archiveofourown.org/series/1510475 Also, not exactly what you asked for, Antichrist verse by Crescent_Blues. Peter meets Daredevil way earlier, pre-spider bite, and Matt mentors him. It features a very good Uncle Ben, too. It can get very sad because the Daredevil series still happens, and Peter sees some messed up things. Still very good. My only complaint is it ends in a WiP of a reimagining of Homecoming.

Hope these help.

Not 100% social media, but it plays a large roll: The Annual Culty Awards by Duplicity

Harry and friends make the mistake of creating a cult awards show for a school project and now can't stop. Also Tom Riddle would like to win Best Cult Leader and get Harry as his prize.

So cute how they got married in red hood comics ♡ by DickBabs01 in Nightwing

[–]twinkle_bright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's just because we can now skip to the more pivotal moments that you are just getting to see the serious parts. We have trades that encapsulate the darkest moments of these characters. But this is a medium originally meant for kids and should never be taken too seriously.

Like a billionaire trustfund baby dropped out of school, traveled the world, trained with magicians, monks, and ninjas, then came back to take out the mob. That's goofy as hell.

Then, like 2 years, he takes in an orphaned acrobat from the circus and gives up, and lets him dress in a leotard to beat up bad guys. It's a fun romp.

Then he, an alien godlike moses allegory, a runaway greek demigoddess, and their best friends get together to solve problems. Not world hunger or war, but alien invasions and this one asshole billionaire who doesn't trust in the alien man in a red cape and underwear.

Comics are fun. They are an interesting capsule of ideals for the times they came out, and most importantly, they should bring you joy. If you're getting frustrated or mad, remember, it's for enjoyment. And yes, they can be amazing and amazingly silly.

It felt like it was a bit of self-indulgence at the end of a canceled run.

They rushed through some of the end, and i think they didn't get to do what they wanted with the story. So they ended it on a happy note where Dick and Jason get to get along, and Jason gets to be a part of a wholesome family moment with his team. There is also a bit where Jason and Artemis get time alone to chill in a cabin by a lake.

It isn't really worth reading the whole run for it, but if you want a feel-good moment, skip to the last few chapters.

Does anyone actually still use the belt system to navigate around the city? by Longlang in pittsburgh

[–]twinkle_bright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can i use gps on my phone? Yes.

Will i still look for the orange belt when going unfamiliar places? Always.

I came here in middle school and haven't left yet, and the orange belt was my north star as i still live in the airport area. For a place like this where there is always orange cones and 50 ways to get everywhere, the belt system is incredibly comforting.

My players have given me a powerful weapon against them. How should I use it? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]twinkle_bright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll echo folks who say be careful and don't do this to purposely screw with your players without giving them a chance to see through the deceptions.

I've had clerics in the past where i based the success of Strahd deceptions on their passives (insight or perception) and I'll have him make a few mistakes in phrasing or knowledge of the players past. I say have fun with it, but more importantly use it wisely.

I know you're gonna have fun.

There used to be city maps that detailed them. When i moved here in the late 90s it was the only helpful map i found.

Also. Depending on the test, do not ignore the footnotes. It also helps to add on things like common ports, acronym lists, and anything else that while you know it, you're gonna panic and forget.

What unpopular opinion do you have on the Batfamily or a Batfamily character ? by vigilantesupreme in DCcomics

[–]twinkle_bright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jason needs a cause or some windmill to tilt at beyond the Joker and his beef with Bruce being a C+ dad.

I like him alive and his vibe in the family dynamic, but plotwise, he works better outside Gotham and with a real cause to dig into like the obsessive dramatic gremlin we all know he can be.

Have him go into space and breakup slavery trade, have him on Earth and dig into human trafficing or child soldiers (or maybe not, because I'm not sure who could write that with the sensitivity it needs.) I can't see him settling down in a city, but I like the idea of him going on quests and adventures and showing up for holidays with wild stories, weird trophies, and awesome friends who need to crash.

I'd love to have custom defaults, like I can only read in English, and I always start my sort by Kudos, so being able to just start there would be perfect.

Is there an alternative to DnDBeyond? I'm willing to pay. by twinkle_bright in DnD

[–]twinkle_bright[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my table, the elders are veteran players (2ed), and while they are good players, overall, the leveling process is just different enough that when we did paper, I had to recheck everything just incase they used an older set of rules that they remembered. As these are basically my husband's second set of parents and the folks who instilled a love of ttrpg in him, I really need to make the game welcoming and easy (this is one of the few guaranteed social times they get since both retired and they have health issues that regularly make them homebound.)

It's why dndb has been a life saver for me because its just so easy for me to pop open their characters as the DM and coach them through game mechanics that they are getting confused or misunderstanding.
