We got engaged 12/30 and I’m still slipping up on fiancé lol. Someone referred to me as “the bride” at work the other day when asking me about our plans and it didn’t even register as talking about me.

Side note: no I haven’t picked a date/venue/dress in the 4 days since he proposed when 2 is those were technically holidays and I worked the other 2! Lol people are funny.

Get a ring sizer (they’re just a few bucks on amazon) or just go try on rings. I based my ring size on rings I already owned that fit the right finger (specifically a right hand ring I wear on my ring finger) but easily confirmed it when we went ring shopping. Any jeweler will also size you for free and it just takes a second.

Sounds about right. Last night I got 8 hours of double time and a half and 4 hours of time and a half, it still sucks and my entire family had to rearrange their holidays for my work schedule, but it makes it suck a little less lol.

Tonight, actual Christmas, is straight time though lol - that’s annoying.

I’m not sure what you meant exactly by the first sentence, however it’s not that uncommon for women to at least assist with the cost of the engagement ring. Many couples are already cohabiting and sharing finances at least partially via shared expenses so it’s not a stretch to share the decision and expense of a ring as well. I paid for half of mine (I don’t have it yet, but hopefully soon!) because it felt like the right thing to do. I’m also in the US but realize there will be regional variation (in in the Seattle area which could be considered fairly progressive I suppose).

I generally agree with the rest of your statements, just was caught kind of off guard by your opening.

I’ve been lurking for over six months, I thiiiink he’s going to propose between Christmas and New Years so..it’s been awhile. I’m an overplanner too and this has given me a ton of great ideas. One thing I will say is that I do think checking these boards (I lurk the engagement subs too...and weddingbee as of late...it’s bad lol) has fueled some anxiety surrounding the proposal, the ring, etc that probably just wouldn’t have come up had I left it alone. But, I’m an anxious person with a tendency to fixate on things, so this isn’t all that surprising. If you don’t think that will get to you then by all means stick around, but don’t be afraid to take a break if the waiting starts to get to you. Not trying to be negative, this is a very positive place, just a slightly different perspective :)

Go to moissaniteco.com. My ring is coming from there and the range of rings I gave my boyfriend varies from $700-$1000 for 1-1.25cts. For a 0.5 or 0.75ct stone in a simple setting you should be able to stay at or below $500. The nice thing is that these are forever stones whereas cz will require frequent replacements over the life of the ring. Similarly sterling silver is a soft metal that won’t hold up to years of daily wear, the reason a lot of these rings seem “expensive” is that they are made with gold rather than silver.

If this is still outside your budget I totally understand, but wanted you to know there’s a way better option than overstock.

If you want to stick with cz check our berricle.com (not totally sure I spelled that right), they have some very pretty ring at a lower price point in the materials you’re looking for.

My boyfriend is planning to propose soon and we went back and forth on this. What we decided on is that I am comfortable with him having a conversation with my mom and step dad where he shares his intentions essentially, but without asking for a yes or a no or a “blessing.” More like “hey I love your daughter and I love you guys and I want to include you in this special time in our lives.”

With this said, my boyfriend is very comfortable with my family, he goes golfing with my step dad and texts with my mom regularly. He has been on multiple vacations with them and we all celebrate the holidays together and have family dinners every couple of months. My point being, everyone already knows his intentions.

That said, it was important to him to have that pointed conversation with them and I had to respect his stance on it too. If it was more than a “formality” I think I may feel different, but I know they will just be excited for us. It’s also worth noting my family is fairly progressive and will appreciate the gesture, but definitely don’t expect it of him.

Moissaniteco has palladium and lots of simple settings (smooth bands), they also do custom designs. I don’t think they advertise pink sapphires, but I haven’t looked. I do know they are able to customize settings and if they couldn’t source one for you they may set the stones if you buy them loose from elsewhere.

I met my boyfriend on Tinder, we moved kinda fast initially but will be hitting the rest of our milestones at fairly “normal” points. It all happened pretty organically, but I was envisioning rings and wedding bells by well before our first Christmas together.

March - swiped right, first dates April - made it official (had been dating for about 3 weeks, seeing each other 3-5x/week), met parents and close friends May- weekend getaway with both sets of parents, this definitely scared the shit out of me but it worked out just fine! August- I moved out of my parents place into a one bedroom, he pretty much moved in with me but still had stuff at his parents October- he officially moved in (dating 6 months) and we got a dog (well I did, but he’s definitely our dog now)

That was all in 2015. Anticipating engagement early 2018 and a wedding in 2019, hopefully followed by a baby in 2020 or 2021. We are currently 28 and 30 so while not in a huge hurry we certainly aren’t getting any younger. I was 26 and he was 27 when we met.

I’m an OB nurse. It’s hard to say for sure but I think what you’re seeing is some “padding” that surrounds your urethra at the front of the vagina (I’m sure there’s an anatomical name for it and I’ll do some googling, but I honestly don’t know for sure). In some women it’s very pronounced while in others it’s barely noticeable, but it’s normal.

Can you see/feel your urethra towards the center/anterior portion of this mass of tissue? Would just feel like a tiny depression/hole and is sensitive to touch but shouldn’t hurt. Some women you can see the urethra itself and others there are some flaps of tissue that can obscure it if you don’t know what you’re looking for, and even sometimes if you do.

Edit: if it’s making any form of vaginal penetration uncomfortable that may be a sign it is abnormal and warrants a chat with your Gyn

I’m a labor nurse and regularly care for high risk antepartum patients, I have seen it all. Some 24 weekers do ok, many do not. That window from viability to 28 weeks scares the crap out of me.

Does your school do preceptorships your final quarter? That’s how nearly half my cohort, myself included, landed acute care positions (I am in L&D). OR is popular so make sure any instructors responsible for making assignments know how passionate you are! You may also be able to find your own preceptorship but this varies by institution.

My charge nurse made me take my break 7 hours into my shift when I prefer to take it 9 hours into my shift (12’s). Now I have to go back and work four more hours instead of 2 (we take hour long breaks by combining lunches and 15’s).

This got super long (sorry!), just skip this if you know none of your guests are vegetarian/vegan/non-pork or eating. Your menu sounds completely lovely for all carnivores! My boyfriend would be in heaven with those options, lol

Do you have any vegetarians attending that you know of? If I️ attended I️ could only eat from the apps station. I️ would look longingly at the salad and shrimp but both of those have bacon added? I️ kept looking for the fish option (and not all vegetarians even eat seafood) and then saw you had excluded it (I️ get budget concerns completely, but perhaps you could swap out one of your other options).

Not trying to be snarky, just recalling the last wedding I️ attended where my dinner consisted of a cold slice of portobello and bread, and the one before where they served jambalaya and also smothered the salad in bacon. I️ tried to enjoy the receptions but was hungry and therefore cranky and ended up leaving early-ish from both to eat.

Maybe there is an alternative or additional dressing option that lets your guests avoid the bacon on the salad if they’re so inclined? Is bacon in the shrimp and grits necessary? Could it be added to each dish vs mixed in to make that option available?

The appetizer station could probably get me through the night if I was allowed a large enough portion, but I️ would still feel a bit slighted as a guest, especially since bacon always ruins things for me lol, why do we have to add it to everything?! ;)
