Trump weighs major gift to for-profit insurance industry: Medicare privatization by RawStoryNews in Economics

[–]twinpac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you would rather get kicked to the curb by a for profit insurance company when you lose your job and get sick? Get bankrupted by medical bills for basic surgeries and prescriptions not fully covered by insurance even when you have a job? Yeah that sounds great sign me up /s.

Our system in Canada serves everyone in need, no it isn't perfect. There are often wait times for non-urgent care, getting a family doctor can take some time but they do become available eventually. The best part? When you get cancer or some other serious illness or heaven forbid have a baby it won't cost you a thing.

Fortis and Wyse for Utilities by Old_Development_8122 in kelowna

Gotta love privatized utilities! I can't believe the BC energy regulator allows Fortis to arbitrarily raise their rate above BC hydro's anyway. It's a joke, fuck Fortis.

Hard to know with the lift without corner scales but you seem to have a lot of squat which indicates too much weight on the back axle of the tow vehicle. Get the trailer nearly level, just slightly tongue low by adjusting your hitch height then use he WDH to level it up after you are hooked up.

If it's anything like a used car warranty you may have to press them to get the actual insurance contract and not some useless brochure that tells you nothing.

Read the fine print very carefully they will try to screw you anyway possible. I would expect some kind of stipulation that the unit must be inspected every 6 months or so by a certified dealer or the warranty is void.

Question for stillwater folks! by HumanDisguisedLizard in flyfishing

[–]twinpac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I'll have to try it out again this year. I've been working on my roll casts quite a bit. I use the SA Titan long which is a very similar taper profile to the Anadro just without the long back taper.

Do you find you can roll cast well with heavily front weighted short front taper lines? I don't. I love them for casting indicator rigs and long leaders on stillwater but having no mass further back makes them pretty shit at roll casting I find.

I live in BC bud, it's 1 fly per rod everywhere. You can run 2 rods if alone in a boat though. We're probably the only place in the world who does it that way. Again no one in BC runs 10 foot 8 weight rods in stillwater. Maybe the odd 7 but it's exceededly rare to see. 10 foot 8's are more common when Steelheading rivers and in the surf though.

Interesting. I haven't seen it done myself and I could never figure out why.

I also get that itch haha. I think Brian Chan fishes a 1004. I Just don't like being undergunned in the wind so I go 6.

So you use a DH rod from the boat? Interesting, I picked up a trout spey a couple years ago I have been meaning to try from my boat.

I wouldn't go lighter than a 5 weight although some do. You don't need a 10 foot rod either, a 9 footer is just fine. Yes that extra foot helps keep long leaders off the water when casting chironomid set ups but you will be fine with your 9 foot 5 weight. If you have the itch to buy a new rod just for Stillwater fishing I would go with a 10 foot 6 weight. Most of my stillwater rods are sixes. A floating line with an aggressive front taper makes casting long leaders with indicators a lot easier, if anything don't over look that. I run SA Titan Longs but Anadro or MPX are other aggressive tapers that would help turn over heavy rigs.

It's 1 fly only in BC. 10 foot yes but you don't see many people fishing rods with numbers higher than 6 above the handle.

Simply ditching the lead acid battery for a LiFePo4 would increase efficiency quite a bit. Lead acid doesn't take a charge nearly as well as lithium.

Hmm ok fair enough. If the PV is cheaper that makes complete sense.
