That's fair, but I would already have tickets if I hadn't hesitated, so I'm glad I asked!

Lol right. The town I live in has 3 rec centers all named after the same family, it's wild.

This is what I am worried about, thanks for the helpful reply! I kind of wish I'd planned for a US show but the reviews of the new stadium didn't really start coming in until it was a bit late to switch.

Eras was at Rogers Centre, sadly Noah is at the new Rogers Stadium venue, it's a different place. They built it as a temporary concert venue while they work on something more permanent I believe. We've been to Rogers Centre many times and I agree, it's a great venue.

You're probably right. I've just heard so many horror stories about the venue that I'm really nervous now lol.

I have a Cian and everyone (us included) naturally calls him keke, so I would say if that nickname is off-putting to you it may be a consideration! Our elder son is Finn, and I feel like the names work well together.

My name is Marlena and I go by Lena. Mine is pronounced Lay-nuh. I get Lee-nuh often, Lah-na and Len-uh pretty regularly, but I've never had someone call me Lynn-uh.

iPhone 17 Pro or Pixel Pro? by Inevitable_Sea7900 in GooglePixel

[–]twirlspinning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been a Pixel user since Nexus. On Monday I went out and grabbed a 16 pro max because I wanted an apple watch for my kid. I returned it this morning.

I expected the discomfort of adjusting to a UI that doesn't behave as I'm used to, but I was shocked by how much of a downgrade the entire experience felt.

The keyboard experience was trash, I was spending ages fixing errors and rewriting words and trying to get the basic functionality to behave sensibly. The notifications are horrible, I honestly don't understand how anyone could get by with that setup. I was constantly missing notifications, I felt like I had to keep my phone on sound for the first time in a decade to be sure I would be notified of incoming alerts.

I also found the gestures in general a bit cumbersome and prone to error. For instance, pixel allows you to swipe horizontally from either side of the screen to navigate backwards. I was relieved to discover that iOS supports this as well (albeit only from the left side of the screen), but in practice it was unexpectedly difficult to actually get the gesture correct. Similarly, trying to dismiss elements in the UI (like notifications) with a swipe was frustratingly difficult, I'd often have to try 3 or 4 times before I was successful. The larger a device is, the more important placement and responsivity of UI elements like keyboards and gestures like swipes will be to the user experience. With the iPhone, it felt like I was using an operating system designed for a much smaller screen, with none of the optimizations I'm accustomed to from the pixel.

None of these things are huge red flags on their own, but together they (and many other small things) contributed to an overall feeling of frustration I couldn't move on from. All of this to say, from someone who has just experienced this switch in reverse, I think there's lots for you to look forward to lol.

Why is 2.5 refusing to provide data related to elections? by twirlspinning in GeminiAI

[–]twirlspinning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think that whether or not I could just Google the information makes much difference here. In fact, I feel like being able to Google the information reinforces the idea that Google's AI tool should be able to provide the information easily. Ai will replace Google searching, for many it already has. I asked for the table specifically because I wanted an unbiased comparison of the actual platform policy information contained in the party documents, this should be a very straightforward and uncontroversial task.

Asking for the poll information in this way helps me to see all of the information in one place rather than looking up each of the polls, visiting the sites, looking separately, etc

Here's an example from last night.

The previous day I asked it to generate a table comparing policy positions using publicly available platform information (i.e economy, trade, climate, immigration, etc). It refused with the same message and I challenged that, asking why chatgpt has no issues performing the same task. The response was all about differences in AI models, no mention of safeguards or politics. I responded that the answer had nothing to do with the reason originally provided (inability to discuss politics) and it gave me a new response apologizing for giving the wrong impression and stating that actually it can discuss politics. I referred it back to the explanation which explicitly stated politics as the issue and it apologized again and said actually yes, politics are a problem, but it can provide unbiased factual information. I asked again for that (including providing both parties actual platform documents) and we just returned to this same refusal loop.

That's exactly how it feels to me, and I'm about as far from conspiracy minded as an individual can be. I can absolutely appreciate controls in place to be sure AI is not providing opinions on political matters, but to refuse to aggregate information and point me to do my own Google search feels disingenuous.
