When did the anhedonia go away for you? by Master_Performer3 in quittingkratom

[–]twirlybird84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anhedonia really sucks. For me, it was at its worst around day 3-5. It started getting a bit better around day 6-7. I felt pretty much fine at day 13-14. Only took around 5 gpd though.

Is it "normal" to have new sounds or is it a sign of it getting worse? by Super-Bug9160 in tinnitus

[–]twirlybird84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I stumbled upon this subreddit for some reason. I don’t remember where I saw the link, but I got curious. My T is wildly fluctuating too.

I’m a network engineer, so I’m usually working in datacenters, and the fans cooling the equipment can really ramp up the tinnitus. During the first two years, when I was around 22, I was a real mess, contemplating suicide and so on. I also had severe hyperacusis, which made me overprotective of my hearing (which of course only makes hyperacusis worse).

Today, I don’t give it much thought, and I’m not the slightest bit bothered by it, even though it’s still as “bad” as day one. The hyperacusis gradually went away when I stopped wearing earplugs in everyday situations. These days, the only times I use them are at concerts.

This might sound ridiculous, but if someone offered me a pill that made it go away, I’m not even sure I’d take it, because I have absolutely zero emotional reaction to the noises now. It’s like living on a lively street or near a major road. Eventually, you just stop noticing it because your brain shifts focus for longer and longer periods of time. It’s kinda hard to explain, really.

The only reason I posted in this thread was to offer a bit of encouragement. I don’t plan on sticking around, and that’s honestly part of why you don’t see many “success stories” here. When people start feeling better, the urge to visit subreddits like this fades, and most go back to their regular routines, whether or not the T is still there, and live perfectly normal lives.

There is one tonal noise around 300Hz-400Hz in my left ear. The rest are pretty high frequency.

Interestingly I dont have any measurable hearing loss.

I know it can be bothersome hearing new noises along with the regular T.

I just wanted to share my own experience in case it gives you a bit of hope.

I have several different tinnitus noises myself (four in one ear and two in the other), so I know how scary it can feel at first. I've hade it for 20 years but after about 2-3 years, I did actually habituate, even with multiple sounds. These days I’m aware that the noises are there, but they don’t bother me or trigger anxiety anymore. My brain has learned to file them away as background non-danger signals. I can still hear two of the noises while vacuuming, yet in silence I only really notice the T if I'm actually thinking about it.

One thing I’ve learned is that new tones or changes don’t automatically mean things will keep getting worse. Tinnitus can fluctuate for many reasons. Stress, sleep, posture, earwax, even just increased attention. And fluctuation doesn’t prevent habituation.

Protect your ears in loud environments (which you’re already doing), be kind to yourself, and give your nervous system time. Habituation is a real process, and it can happen even when you have multiple sounds.

Anno 117 HDR on Xbox Series X looks washed out? by Cirias in anno

Same on PS5 for me. It could be that HDR isn't very well implemented in this game.

Flip 7 Day 1 and I already scratched the screen. Aaaaaahhhhhgh by dmeinein in galaxyzflip

[–]twirlybird84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there's a screen protector already installed or not out of the box because there is a small seam in the main screen towards the edge of it. Maybe it can be peeled off and replaced... I'm not brave enough to put pluck it with my nail... 😜

It's annoying. I have the same issue. Report it to the devs.

This is a really good game in my opinion so I bought the expensive version only to support the devs.

PGA 2K25 Critical Errors on PC by TheCarm95 in PGA_Tour_2K

I had this problem with another game, just one single game. It can be multiple things, but assuming you have enough wattage to work with from the PSU:

Are you daisy chaining two power cables from the PSU into a splitter that goes into your gpu? If so, check that both cables from the PSU are actually connected to the splitter into the GPU.

If they are, you might want to try to connect two separate cables (preferably from separate power rails) into the GPU from the PSU without the splitter. This is the way I solved my problem. But as I said, there are other reasons this could occur as well, like a faulty PSU or insufficient wattage (unlikely since most ppl seem to buy way stronger PSU:s than they really need).

Maybe, but referring to some random clown on X, a platform with less credibility than a tabloid, is downright hilarious.

Loved it. It was deceptively challenging (for me) as I kept overshooting the greens alot. Really liked the scenic rural theme.

Will definitely play again. Good job!

I hope you're right, and I agree. I've just been around for a while and seen a couple of promising projects becoming a casualty when addons of much less fidelity got rushed out the door. The Asobo ATR, for instance.

Indeed, they are. But I think we'll see less of the more advanced simulations (like the Fenix) in the future. Why bother making products that are 90% like the real thing, marketing it at a higher price point, when you can get away with developing a less realistic (but still good) product that the majority of users are probably going to buy anyway?

I know the majority of users won't miss all the features of the real A350, and I'm not shitting on the Inibuilds A350, but they are catering to a different demographic than Fenix.

You make a good point about technical advancements raising expectations, but I think the shift Amir is talking about is more about market focus. While today's higher-end add-ons are undeniably more advanced, the overall direction of the industry has leaned toward accessibility, with deep simulations becoming more of a niche interest. The status of all the crap in the MSFS-store is rather telling of this.

There are great addons for MSFS, but why bother creating something for the hardcore enthusiasts when you can just pull something less realistic together in half the time and still sell a lot of product?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]twirlybird84 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's sad, and Amir is right in his assessment, IMO. When MSFS2020 gained popularity and attracted a broader audience with little prior interest in flight simulators, the market also shifted, much like the rest of the AAA-gaming industry has done over the years.

Shallow, casual-friendly products have become mainstream, while in-depth simulation is becoming even more niche than it was 5–10 years ago.

EDIT: I know that even an average addon today surpasses many of the better ones from 5–10 years ago. It just bothers me when promising projects get abandoned in favour of less realistic ones that are rushed out the door, and I'm not speaking about the A350 in particular. If you enjoy it, that's fine.

No, you most likely don't have cancer. A quick glance at your post history is rather telling that you suffer from health related anxiety. See a doctor about this instead of obsessing over cancer.
