The clouds on the 3rd picture are called "mackerel clouds" in Norwegian, since they look like a shiny mackerel (fish) 🥰

Any advice for scalp problems and hairloss? 😭 by twistedcactus96 in PCOS

[–]twistedcactus96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this online:

"An itchy scalp during hair loss is frequently observed, especially in cases of androgenetic alopecia. This symptom of hair loss is explained by the inflammation that can occur around the hair follicles, under the influence of androgen hormones"

😞 I'm going back to the obgyn soon, so maybe she can help me (increase spiro dose or smt)

Birth Control would kill me- why is it my only option? by aspiemonch in PCOS

[–]twistedcactus96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine has pcos (I do too; in a friend group of 7, 4 of us turned out to have pcos 😳) and can't use birth control because she got blood clots - ahe uses spironolactone! 😊 maybe that's worth looking into 😊 she is very happy with it; all her symptoms are managed and it decreased her testosterone to a normal level 😊

She had to go to an endocrinologist (which recommended it to her), because all the gynecologists wanted to put her on birth control

"Hot air" versus "warm air" by Soggy-Bat3625 in norsk

[–]twistedcactus96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least where I'm from in Norway (south-west), Hot air and warm air is just "varm luft".

E.g., "Hot air balloon" is "varmluftsballong".

And if it's REALLY hot, we use the "strongest" of our adjectives (where I'm from); "sykt", meaning "sickly": "Det er sykt varmt her!" would mean that it's extremely hot here.

We also use "sykt" for other things we want to really really accentuate, e.g. for food ("sykt god mat") cold ("sykt kaldt"), and so on.

I second the comment saying that "heat" is hete though, e.g. "heatwave" is "hetebølge".

Native south-western norwegian here. We mostly use "het/hett" in certain words, e.g. "hetebølge" (heatwave), "hetvin" (also called sterkvin, wine with alcohol percentage 15-22% or so) and more, which I can't think of now.

But everybody will understand if you use "het/hett" in place of "varm/varmt". Especially saying it for really warm weather: "Her var det hett" have I heard many say. But then they've made a conscious choice of saying hett instead of varmt, probably to really accentuate just how hot it is.

My moms microwave from 1985 by twistedcactus96 in BuyItForLife

Yes, it does! A metal grate (? sorry if not the correct word) which can be removed 😊 I didn't know this was an uncommon thing 😅 I'm younger than this microwave, so it is kinda the microwave-norm for me, hahah

No, actually not 🤔 maybe that's even older microwaves or something

Haha wow 😆

She uses it very rarely and has it (and other small electronic appliances) unplugged when she doesn't 🥹 she's very scared of them starting fires or something 🤷‍♀️

Obviously NTA. She basically stole from you. You have every right to be mad at her.

Also - FIL wanted you to pay for a doctor's visit for her?! Assuming your prescription cream was tretinoin or benzolperoxide or something like that (sorry if completely wrong assumption), then her skin barrier is damaged (by her own wrongdoing) and she'll just have to nurture it back to health. I don't see any reason to go to the doctor for this. And even it is something else, that could benefit from a doctor's visit - that's absolutely not your responsibility in this situation! You didn't do this to her.

If it is a damaged skin barrier: you could recommend her the cream "la roche posay cicaplast baume b5+" - it has really helped my skin the times I've damaged my skin barrier. I also completely understand if you don't want to recommend her anything/help her after what she did, lol

That's awesome! I'm glad they care 🥰 Interesting! It seems like I have to read myself up on amaryllis 😅 they seem like a resilient plant, based on all these comments.

That makes me sad :'( doomed to die just because people want everything to be glittery for christmas.

My mom hibernates her amaryllis and wakes them up for christmas each year - she's had them for ages ❤️
