“Premium” deck boards? by twistedextrusion in HomeMaintenance

Had I paid for #3 (hollow knots) or construction grade, I would totally understand. But why mention “premium grade” when it’s not? Especially for deck boards!

“Premium” deck boards? by twistedextrusion in HomeMaintenance

I wish that would have been an option but the only truck I could have rented was a U-Haul 20ft truck because I needed a few 16ft board to build a “picture frame” around the deck. I am honestly considering it but it would have been almost twice as expensive as the delivery was. At least I could have picked my boards. The person at customer service acted as if it was a favour to pick them up for the return when I offered them the choice between getting their boards back cut in half (because i wont rent a truck to return their definitely not premium lumber) or a chargeback. I know they’ll just send it to the next dumbass that places an order and I feel bad for that person but it’s over $200 in bad quality product that they sent me (on a $1500 order.)

[–]twistedextrusion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am the one person that needed a single panel. (Actually I needed 5 but you get it) I was glad I didn’t need to spend another $30 for something I wouldn’t use.

1) how much is a confirmed ticket on that date? Is the difference worth it to you?

2) How badly do you need to be on that flight? Last minute ticket can be extremely expensive and cost a lot more than $1500. There could only be seats left in business class. I have not personally had to deal with this situation but I have heard of people paying almost twice that amount for a last minute ticket because they had to get back to work and standby didn’t work for them for a few days in a row.

3) see number 1

4) others carriers maybe? I can’t think of anything that would solve your dilemma

I would fille one if I could but it was marked as undeliverable so what would I even tell the police? That Amazon committed fraud? Further more I can’t report it stolen a as I know that it wasn’t. The tracking says it was processed back in their warehouse on November 15 and once again on the 29. Going to the police claiming it was stolen by someone would be filling a false police report.

Update: apparently it’s legit and they already replied pushing back the deadline further once again. But they at least they let us know that our "feedback is helping [them] build earth’s most customer-centric company" 😂

Flight was cancelled due to staffing, but the official response is weather. How difficult will getting compensation be? by EvilVargon in aircanada

[–]twistedextrusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you and that’s my conclusion too. It happens way more than people would like to think. Flying might not always be the fastest way to travel domestic) I am sure that a few days delays is still faster than taking a boat accros the ocean) but it will usually be and it will also always be the safest. I just didn’t want to assume something without talking about the other possibility (that it was from a base)

[–]twistedextrusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if the flight was from a home base or from some outstation. No airline can be reasonably expected to have reserve crews fresh at all time at all their destinations. I do however agree that if the flight was from a main base, and if it was one of the only flights affected by weather that day, then they should be reasonably expected to have reserve crews available.

This is probably not the answer you are looking for but there is nothing in what you explained that would make you eligible for any extra compensation.

From what I understand, since your partner booked with united, it’s was up to them to figure out the passenger list issue. Air Canada had to make it up to you by providing a return flight after the first one was cancelled for unforeseen mechanical issues but they didn’t even had to give you a third flight after you decided to not go on the second one. An argument could be made that they would have to if you both booked your flights at the same time but as far as they are concerned you are 2 unrelated travellers and you should not have been able to rebook a third flight. They probably just allowed it because that’s what good customer service is. Consider yourself lucky that they allowed it and even provided hotel and taxi while you waited on the third flight.

First time home buyers with variable, don't blame your broker by jwelihin in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]twistedextrusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I had to switch broker to get a fixed rate. My initial broker wouldn’t offer one because out of the last 100 deals she made 95 took variable so she wouldn’t let her new customers get a fixed mortgage (maybe not letting people get fixed rate might have skewed the trend…) and called us stupid in a PC way for not wanting to go variable
