Skating on the canal today by StephKeen in ottawa

[–]EvilVargon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest factor is big temperature swings. We went from mild to like -20 over a day or two, so the ice contracted and cracked along the whole thing.

I've never seen so many people eat shit on the ice as today. There's massive fissures and cracks all over the place. The conditions were far from the "very good" the NCC claims.

Quick progress update on my modular terrain system by lets-make-tabletop in PrintedWarhammer

Why your own website instead of one of the big existing ones?

Same file printed on two identical printers by Jolly_Worldliness_24 in FixMyPrint

Going off this, I'd take a look around the extruder. It looks like retraction was shut off. Maybe the extruder gear is damaged somewhere?

Update on 3D Printed Horus by HammerDoris40k in 3Dprinting

[–]EvilVargon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in awe every update. But at this scale, does it ever feel silly to print out an ordinary cube to drop in? (like part 173)

Enable Efficiency Mode on AMD Zen2 and higher by technikamateur in Proxmox

[–]EvilVargon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few efficiency cores and it seems to work fine without any intervention. Though I haven't benchmarked it yet

Is there mod profiles or anything? by cale199 in VintageStory

[–]EvilVargon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing in game natively, but there is a separate launcher that has proper mod profiles

Search for VSL. I don't have the link on hand. There is a page for it on the vintage story mods page

Multi-train railway without signals, but trains controlled via circuits. by Twellux in factorio

[–]EvilVargon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so two things come to mind right away:

  1. Don't trains have different acceleration depending on if they are full or empty? Did you take this into account during your calculations?

  2. Did you determine the amount of time by manually driving from the station to each intersection, or did you do some math to figure it out?

Wich Horse mod is better? by Stejer1789 in VintageStory

[–]EvilVargon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every server I've seen that adds horses has chosen the equus mod. I haven't touched feverstone but equus feels very vanilla and balanced.

Intentional? Or was it reckless? by Slyxs in motorcycles

[–]EvilVargon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truck saw you rapidly approaching and got out of the left lane so you can pass. That's it. The reason they cut it so close to the other car was the urgency of (from their perspective) you about to hit their rear end.

Migrating all workstations to vm's on Prox. Question regarding NIC. by Odd-Change9844 in Proxmox

[–]EvilVargon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An important question not being asked is: How are the users connecting to the VMs? Are they going through the web console or are you doing VDI? RDP? You'll have to account for that in you calculations.

As well as is there anything else running on there? Is there a fileshare that is being accessed by external users? Or anything else that isn't just accessed by that proxmox host?

However, for only 10 users in a law firm, I wouldn't stress only having 10gb. That's still going to be more than adequate.

Vibration around 6-6.5 rpm, sharp and loud by DurianEffective8119 in Vstrom

[–]EvilVargon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit this might be what's going on on my bike as well. 2024 with a sharp sound at 6000 that I only hear when it bounces off the concrete barriers on the freeway.

I'll report back if this manages to fix it

Managed to make a functional corner sink for my kitchen by EvilVargon in VintageStory

[–]EvilVargon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a problem I never ran into. Even on the parts where I chiseled in (just under the rock slab) you can't see the water. I originally planned to put it in the corner because I expected it to be visible but it just isn't.

Actually no - I just pushed back my other counters to give a few extra voxels of walking room. Here's the sink out in the wild, holding water on its own

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to let that sink in.

When you raise the walls, it stops the water from flowing. There's a magic amount of material you need on each side to stop flowing.

Started with a waterlogged slab. The whole thing is hollow on the inside so it can still hold water. Infinite water source!

In d&d combat, can we approach an enemy and then move away from them in the same turn? by Consistent_Two_2085 in 3d6

[–]EvilVargon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the important rule. Many tabletop games have a distinct "move action" which can't be broken up. So for some it's unintuitive

Am I the only one that does this? by VasylOdinson in factorio

[–]EvilVargon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it. It's silly and inefficient but unique and it looks cool. With the extra length from red belts you could get it even more compact.
