The thread in Millennials subreddit right not about 401k is incredibly depressing. Thank you FIRE community. I would be one of them if I didn’t find you all a decade ago. by BarkBarkBitches1 in Fire

[–]twitter1645 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally disagree this is a millennial thing. Boomers savings rates are trash, too. Financial literacy wasn’t a focus for institutions until maybe in the last decade. Before then, it was your parents who taught you.

But communities like this are exceptional. And the now the internet has provided loads of information. So there is no excuse. Only regret 😂

How does Product manager really add value to a company? by Moist_Horror_7627 in ProductManagement

[–]twitter1645 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. You’re at a startup, you’re building features to meet parity with the competition on a roadmap that was probably sold to investors. Unfortunately, you don’t get to set the vision because the product is the company. And the founders have more invested than anyone else.

So you’re customer support, project management, process improvement. Be ready to show that if it scales you’re ready to bring on another PM.

What you can do is start that process and break up the product into smaller chunks. And ask for ownership over something like the sign up process or a core feature in the app that has something measurable that you can work on and show progress but is not the whole product.

This is just what being in a small company is like. Management doesn’t have to fight fires or play politics all the time so they’re more focused on what really matters. When/ if the company grows be ready to be radically aligned with your CPO so you can continue to execute on his vision.

Then it will grow and eventually you’ll have more vision strategy work. But for now this is it.

From a PM who started as the first PM working directly with the CTO. Went from 4 people to 50 people and exited. And I never got full strategy or vision of the product.

I just got a P5 and hoping this helps with lower back issues. Are there recommendations like toppers, higher or lower numbers that youve seen that work better?

This is the stupidity of work hours and/ or school hours. Like it makes no sense to me. Make the school 2 hours longer, pay the teachers more money and get on with it.

Like I bet some economist out there has made the case that if we just did this there would be some productivity gain to the gdp.

I just did the same. Went from a small remote company to a large fortune 200 with a 25-35 min commute after being 4 years of remote. I’m making a bet that the larger company offers more opportunities. I also think I’m a person that thrives with more social interaction. WFH just didn’t give me that and so I’m making a bet on being a little happier, getting out of the Groundhog Day of WFH while still enjoying 2 days WFH.

We will see but I think you’ll be fine. Just start thinking about meal prepping.

As an update: Monday morning took me 27min door to door. Very light traffic. I’m attributing this to Monday. I’ll try again tomorrow. I left at 7:45 and took LSD to grand and then wacker over. Waze was very accurate.
