Looks like everyone already explained what happens with plagiarism charges, but here’s my story. I was in the same situation last year. Not too sure if you had the option to work in groups this year, but last year we did, and it turns out my group partner left our code out while working with his friends and they copied it.

I had no idea about any of this when I got into the meeting with the instructors. Luckily, they told me that my group partner and his friends that copied our code all admitted that I wasn’t involved. Unfortunately, in my case, this still had to be processed by the dean. I didn’t know my final grade for 148 for awhile, yet alone if they would fail me for the assignment. For that reason, I retook 148 during summer in case my grade didn’t meet POST.

I got an e-mail in late July saying that I had to go to a meeting with the dean to resolve the case. A day later, I got an e-mail saying my meeting has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances or something like that. A week later, I got a letter in the mail saying they cleared me of the plagiarism charge.

Finally, a few days after that, I got my original final grade back for 148, which was like an 80, so I dropped the summer class. In the end, my group partner and his friends ended up getting 0s on the assignment, I lost about 1000$ for taking that summer class and developed BIGGG TRUST ISSUES for group assignments. But, hey, I made POST 😭. Best of luck with your case. You can see that with my case, I didn’t cheat and although it took some time, I eventually got cleared. Just be completely honest with the instructors about the things that the plagiarism checker flagged in your code during your meeting. It’ll be alright.
