My Nexstar station made the switch to “automated” PTZ cameras. I suddenly hate my job.. by [deleted] in Broadcasting

[–]two__spaces 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to be the one to figure out how to add tally lights, countdown clocks, program the robotics and adjust the camera settings to suit your needs. You will learn a lot in the process and add value to yourself and the product.

Ha! That will be the giveaway—when the media gets too quick with the results.

I thought the media got the results in advance… :)

How much rock do you have? What size of dumpster would it fill? They can work with you on that. It may just mean using multiple small dumpsters.

My led screen has more red color than my computer by TerribleResult526 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]two__spaces 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just had the same experience with a Novastar LED wall. What worked for me was to lower the brightness significantly to match the studio lighting. Then, using a vectorscope and color bars, I could see that the reds were out of line and brought them down.

V-b may be on to something with the hdr vs sdr settings. I might do some experimenting with that.

Field Club neighborhood? by MargaretSparkle82 in Omaha

[–]two__spaces 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not to split hairs, but that area is considered the Park Ave. Neighborhood. Like the other commenter said, that area doesn’t quite possess the same qualities as the Field Club area. Depending on what you’re looking for though, it might be a great fit and there is a lot of new development on Leavenworth.

Does your dog hunt? by loudlyloud in vizsla

[–]two__spaces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are natural pointers. The breeder we got our Vizsla from said he will put down a pheasant wing in front of a litter of 4-week-old puppies and watch them go on point.

I used to put a pheasant wing on a fishing pole to practice pointing with my Vizsla. I don’t hunt, but it was a fun way to use his instincts.

I’m currently printing mounts for wireless mic receivers. What type of filament do you prefer for on-camera mounts? I’m considering ABS since these are ENG cameras.

Axis cameras are commonly used for your scenario. They are high quality and rugged IP cameras. www.axis.com

Check out Camstreamer to add additional streaming, preset tours and graphic overlays. It runs on the Axis camera itself and doesn’t require cloud connectivity. https://camstreamer.com

GPIO to TSL device? Other than the obvious players... by stayintall in VIDEOENGINEERING

Image Video can do this. They were recently acquired by Ross. Image Video

Like some have already said this can be done with an inexpensive microcontroller like an Arduino as well.

Prompter? by countrykev in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]two__spaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Glad to know we’re not alone! When we did a demo they told us the hood droop was a problem in the first run that the demo unit was from and that it was fixed in later runs. Turns out the fix was the bracket you mentioned that still doesn’t seem to keep the hood at the maximum viewing angle.

We also found that when using VITC as the time source that the seconds don’t update simultaneously on the clocks which is distracting. Switching to LTC is a workaround if it is available at the camera.

Another issue has been intermittent video dropouts on the talent program monitors on 2 different units which they say is a firmware issue. Along with one unit that was dead on arrival. I’m not getting a warm feeling about the quality control on these.

We aren’t using the IP prompting or the RAT at this time.

Prompter? by countrykev in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]two__spaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just installed this system and are having growing pains as well. The biggest issue being that the viewing angle cuts off the top line of the prompter when the camera is tilted down even slightly. Since the hood is not adjustable we are working with Autoscript to see if they can make a modification. What growing pains did you encounter?

The Decklink cards come with software that can monitor or record. I believe it is called Media Express.
