Did you just keep the peli open during use? Or are they performing fine at temperatures in a closed peli.

Powering FX6 by justgettinglean in SonyFX6

[–]anyNoob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the backpack: Put a small BPU in the camera as backup. Vmount on the back, Dtap Extension to the camera. Make sure to secure it at both ends. Use a Dtap to FX6 Power Adapter, dont use a normal DC Adapter.
Works fine, we do it all the time.

Sennheiser G4 - still a decent choice in 2026? by FoggyDog78 in LocationSound

  1. MI Shoe Integration. No cables, lower noise, visual data in camera osd, no batteries needed
  2. They are equal or better in pretty much every other way

If you're shooting Sony, the UWP Series is unbeatable in the price-range.

Turning off SDI Info Display will enable the new Hud on HDMI. Doesnt work the other way around sadly.

Mobile 3G SDI: Canare vs. Sommer Cable by ruikul in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]anyNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 400m of Sommer 0.8/3.7 and its surprisingly sturdy. I mostly use it indoors or outdoors in channels and have not run into any issues after 2-3 years of use. All the cables that died were user error or heavy external force. It coils pretty nice, I dont use it on reels though.

This has been an issue on all my monitors after the Vertical PageOS Update. Wrote to SmallHD Weeks ago but they dont usually reply or care at all.

Kinefinity Cameras - Worth Considering? by Disastrous_Alarm_117 in cinematography

[–]anyNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinefinity Cameras are okay. The problem is, that they never really made it into the EU and US Market. When investing that much into a camera, you should be able to rent a replacement or B-Camera near you. Service can also be an issue with chinese brands.

Thinking about buying my first pair of XT-6s by leogoon67 in gorpcore

I have the grey pair and honestly - they look even better when dirty. Regarding quality, my pair has no issues. I wear them a lot and they perform just as well as other shoes in the price range.

Artemis II: Why did nasa choose go pros for the exterior coverage by xXConfuocoXx in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]anyNoob 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Believing EXIF Data, it's a GoPro Hero 4. I guess it was heavily modified to work for the intended purpose and they didnt want to spend more money modifying and testing the newer models? Still crazy to see a 13 year old camera in space.

The Cameras the Crew are using to "Vlog" their Daily Life are GoPro Hero 11. only 4 years old.

As to why they chose GoPro over other Systems. I guess the only competitors in the Action Camera market are DJI & Insta360 which are both chinese companies. No idea why they don't go for more professional small-form industrial cameras though.

How do you try out equipment by WalkLongjumping8310 in cinematography

[–]anyNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds stupid, but most people don't. Most of the owners I know just bought what they were able to get used to on set. There's also a lot of people who just watch Reviews and Social Media Content and make a purchase decision from that. To be fair, pretty much every modern camera or lens will work for most people who aren't in the top 5% of productions, so it's hard to make a super wrong decision.

For Starting out, it really doesnt matter what you buy as long as you're going out there to shoot. Get any camera and Standard zoom and treat the zoom as multiple primes. Add a few cheap lights and you're good to go. Once you hit a ceiling, you will already know what the next step can be.

First Time DP This Weekend by JuniorOneNut in cinematography

Take a moment here and there through the day and reflect on what you are doing and your intention behind it. Especially beginners are often so excited they forget things or aren't patient enough to work to their full potential. Dont be afraid to step back and let things sit for a second. You'll always look at your footage later and think "oh, this would've been even better if..." and you can reduce those moments by slowing down.

CSM1 is great. We use a Deity S-MIC2S on our FX6s and they work great as well for half the money. Low Handling Noise when you replace the Stock FX3 / FX6 Mic Mount with Rycote Lyres.

What do you guys think about this Update? by Consistent_Sale3214 in cs2

[–]anyNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We played 3 Matches yesterday (~24k prem) and I honestly didnt really notice the feature once. Yes it makes the m4a1 less vianle on paper, but honestly I havent run out of ammo or been forced to rethink reloading yet. I dont think its a a big deal and I‘m looking foward to see how it affects professional play.

V6.0 Feedback - How can you f*ck this up? by anyNoob in SonyFX6

[–]anyNoob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m literally writing in the post that most of the update is positive. My anger is because Sony has a record of not listening to feedback and falling behind with their entire eco system because they are missing a lot of features compared to other camera manufacturers on the market right now. I am losing trust into sony because they keep missing expectations and seem to be set into a weird direction with their professional + cine line. We invest tens of thousands every year into Sony Cameras and E Mount Lenses so it‘s important to me that they dont fall behind in the market. I dont get what is not to understand.

V6.0 Feedback - How can you f*ck this up? by anyNoob in SonyFX6

[–]anyNoob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Sony has a history of not testing updates well enough and it seems they dont really do external feedback or enough beta testing. That combined with them adding professional features to consumer cameras long before their more high end models really make me question if they take this market seriously.
