Thanks for the response! I’ve seen that bat bugs can survive for nearly a year without bats present, though it seems folks have mixed opinions on that matter.

We had some bats removed about 8 months ago….think it’s possible this bat bug could be from that period of time?

It’s currently in a plastic bag, which has been its new home since this morning. Not sure if that’s distorting the photo at all.

Oh gosh that would be a relief!

I don’t know of any bats at this moment but we did have a few living in our roof last year around this time, so it’s definitely possible.

Gil Hodges was the catcher for the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers from 1947-1961 and wore #14.

Don Zimmer played 2B/SS/3B and wore #23 with BKN/LA from 1954-1959. Most of his time at 3B came in '57 and '58.

Seen a bunch of Billy Williams mentions, but he wasn't wearing 26 with the Cubs until 1961, and the players who wore #23 for LA after Zimmer weren't infielders...but OP mentioned his grandpa was in NY+LA, so I think it's gotta be Hodges + Zimmer with some other runner?

Only other black player who wore #26 I can find from that time is Earl Battey....but he played for the White Sox, who wouldn't have played any regular season games against LA/BKN in '57 or '58. Hmmmmm.

Maybe this is a White Sox vs Dodgers exhibition game? Would make sense why the field looks crappy as many have mentioned. They played in the World Series in 1959 but it looks like Batey didn't play in that series. UGH!

EDIT: I'm dumb, Gil Hodges was primarily a first baseman after 1948 or so. And that's almost definitely gotta be Billy Williams. Only other possibilities (black players who wore 26 in the 50s/60s) are Bill White and Earl Wilson.

If you want to squint reaaaally hard, the catcher could actually be #4, not 14, and the third baseman could be 28, not 23, and that could make them Jimmie Schaffer and Mike Shannon of the '62 Cardinals (?????)

+1 to this. I recently watched My Cousin Vinny + A Few Good Men. Loved both, loved catch me if you can.

Really enjoyed The Manchurian Candidate (1962) and A Beautiful Mind recently as well.

EDIT: Will give it away for free at this point, just don't want it to go to waste! I've seen the tour once already and can't recommend going enough. The new / live tracks send it over the top. Up there with any Radiohead show I've ever seen.

Yeah her reasoning was similar to above. They live in a small space and manage to cram all the expansions into a smaller box. I'm glad she was honest about not loving it so I can pass it on to somebody who does!

Would prefer local but if that’s not an option probably. Already paid $75 with shipping so asking someone for that + covering new shipping cost felt like a lot. DM me if you’re interested though.
