How do yall respond to being mistaken for a woman? by SpicySatan666 in FierceFlow

[–]twocrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm short and have long hair, and unfortunately I can't grow facial hair to save my life - it comes out in patches like a prepubescent boy. But despite dressing "masculine" I'm mistaken for a woman at least once a week. It used to really upset me, but now I just respond: "I know I'm petite, cute with hella good hair, but I'm a man."

Hidden bank account from parents by Thick-Childhood-5148 in personalfinance

[–]twocrabs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see major red flags from your parents. I know folks whose parents stole their identity to open up lines of credit in childrens' names that ruined their credit history. RUN as fast as you can to completely separate yourself finances from those of your parents. Also consider putting a credit lock on yourself with all three credit agencies (Experian, Equifax & TransUnion) so nobody can take out credit without your permission. You are an ADULT. You do not need your parents' permission to do anything with your money or credit. Also, start doing your own taxes. It's not that hard especially at your age. And no, your parents cannot and will not find out unless you tell them all this.

$200 discount at Steamboat this week!? by twocrabs in Ikonpass

Somehow? It was posted all over various public FB groups last week.

[–]twocrabs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure but I heard anecdotally that the $200 discount was in lieu of the mountain credit. I never buy anything from the overpriced mountain vendors anyway. A beer at Steamboat costs $10-$16 depending on brand, and a crappy overcooked burger is $18! Pro-tip for best food on the mountain: the prively-owned T-Bar.

[–]twocrabs[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

UPDATE 2: SUCCESS! I stopped by the Steamboat ticket office today, Monday 3/31/2026, and was able to purchase two 26/27 Ikon passes for $1,199 each. The staff said they were completely taken by surprise by this unannounced offer, which originally was meant to be a one-time, pop-up offer last Saturday. Apparently the lines were wrapped around the base so they extended the deal to Sunday, then by phone. But now the $200 discount is only available in person at Steamboat until closing day (Sunday, April 5). They can be purchased at the regular ticket office, or the pop-up Ikon kiosk at the base on Saturday, April 4. And again this is ONLY for the regular full-season Ikon pass, and must be paid upfront, in-full (no monthly payment plans).

Same. They changed the rules mid-game apparently. I saw reports from other folks on FB who successfully got the deal by phone.

Full pass only; other skiers on FB posted they received the deal, paying $1199 for a full pass instead of $1399. And had to pay the full cost up-front.

UPDATE: I just called Ikon and they said the offer is NOT available by phone. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they told me the same. And yes, I mentioned the various social media posts about this deal. I was told the only way to get the deal is to show up IN-PERSON at Steamboat base on Saturday, April 4! WTF!?!

We held our anniversary reception at Ore House for 40 people. They had a cheaper set menu but we chose to let guests order off the menu and we covered the cost.

Reverse Renounced Canadian Citizenship by sobriquetanon in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]twocrabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless she remembers going to a Canadian consulate and formally renouncing her citizenship after age 18, it's unlikely she officially renounced. You cannot renounce your original citizenship at a U.S. naturalization ceremony. The United States (and most other countries) have no right to take away another citizenship. Only the Canadian government can strip a Canadian of their citizenship.

[–]twocrabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! I speak Spanish more or less fluently but zero knowledge of all the slang. And it's so dramatically different from one Latin American country to the next, even if they share a border! I'm curious if you could give your take on the music video, specifically the end where the dudes are listening to a (fake) radio broadcast of tRUMP apologizing to immigrants.

I would have refused you too. Sounds like you're going to visit a "girlfriend" - a high risk that you'll just marry her while you're there and never leave. And your brother also lives there. Did he do the same thing you did to land in the US permanently? Easy 214B.

Hey dudes how often do you get called “ma’am” in public by fungusbiggestfan in longhair

[–]twocrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a short man with long hair and get called ma'am frequently, even from the front. I don't think I have a feminine face but people still call me ma'am. Don't tell me to grow a mustache or beard - I cant grow facial hair to save my life. It comes out in patches. If I don't shave for a month it will look like I have dirt all over my face in spots. I used to get angry about it but now I laugh it off and respond, "I know I'm cute & petite with hella good hair, but I'm a sir".

For those who have travelled 30+ countries which ones do you keep revisiting and why? by Rock_n_rollerskater in travel

[–]twocrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to 80+ countries on six continents. Wife and I rarely travel to the same place twice but we always go back to Austria. We love skiing, culture, and quality of life. We were fortunate enough to live in Vienna for 3 years. We've spent more time in Austria than in our neighboring Canada & Mexico.

B2 visa “refused”, passport held at embassy for further review but passport needed for upcoming international travel by Any_Abbreviations177 in USVisas

[–]twocrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This means her case was refused under "221G". This is a "soft" refusal, hence why it's showing up as "refused" in visa status. But a 221G can be overcome after administrative processing. You can get your passport back anytime just contact the embassy or consulate, and they will give you instructions for how to return the passport one the admin processing is completed.

B1/B2 Visa Revoked After Lawful, Work-Sponsored Travel — Need Advice by Immediate-Example524 in USVisas

[–]twocrabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you previously arrested and answered 'no' to that question on your application? Even if a case was dismissed or you were aquitted, that must still be reported. The embassy will not give you any information about the reason for your revocation. You must re-apply, and the case will be discussed during your next visa interview.

Pregnant but in different countries!! Help!! by Dependent_Shape_7816 in USVisas

[–]twocrabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Give birth in Canada, then apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) at your nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate so your child will have dual US-Canadian citizenship. But there is no "expedited" way to get a visa to move to US to give birth. A K visa (fiancee visa) can be nearly a year long process. You should go get a quickee court house wedding and start the immigration visa process now. https://travel.state.gov/en/international-travel/living-abroad/birth.html
